I throw mostly hand made custom stuff, but for store bought baits I'd say the B.S. Willy's are nice, Sennetts Creep-tonite is a good sounding bait, if Smokey's has any of the Randy Pafford jointed creepers they are a more custom level creeper. The Musky Buster creepers are pretty good too.

I like Joel Wick Creepers the best, but many types are offered at the shows that you will like. Each has its own sound in the water and overall durability, so look for something with solid construction.

I believe that Greg Nimmer has a booth at the expo. He uses le lure wings on his baits. Nice lures.

For non-customs - I would go with B.S. Willy. Otherwise I'm a big fan of RyLure creepers.

Another vote for B.S. Willy's straight and Jointed for Sound and staying in tune!
The jointed version TOTALLY FREAKS OUT when you speed it up!!! (stainless wings!) Musky Safari's Frankn'spitz Will blow your Mind and Scott tests and tunes every bait before he let's them lose.

Best of luck,
David

Can you speed most creepers up when you see a fish follow or do they run haywire if you speed them up???

Lots of good customs listed. I love creepers. As far as factory creepers, I prefer Sennett Creeptonites. Seem to hold better in the chop and run true.
My 2 cents

Another vote for the B.S. Willy. Love both styles, but throw the jointed more. The best imitation of a duckling scurrying across the water I've ever seen. It can also be worked quicker without rolling over or destroying the sound/action. 5/0 774 Eagle Claws and great rings too. Sharpen the hooks and GO! Steve

Straight, Jointed, Custom . . . B.S. Willy is the only creeper I throw! Available at Rollie and Helen's, Smokey's and other fine retailers.

Rollie's, Thorne Brothers, Smokey's....all carry them. If you find 'em, buy 'em. Brad is taking time off from his production line stuff. They will be hard to find for awhile. Both production creepers are awesome. The fish can't get enough of the one piecer in my boat. Best wings out there, very deep plop, plop.

Brad has been busy in the Bat cave this winter, making some incredible custom creepers.

I have a few custom made creepers made by a guy that sells them out of a resort on the Chip. Hand cut wings, hardware, etc. I like these the best. Rich Reinert turned me on to these one year when I was "Up North" Thanks Rich!

I like the BS Willies for the calm quite times. My only problem with them is that they tend to get blown out of the water on the strike quite often.

The new smaller creeper by Holcomb Tackle is SWEET! It can be fished fast or slow. It has a spreader bar and you can tweak it so that you either get the "bloop" or the silverware rattle. It's also big enough to use in the chop, but not so big that you need a heavy rod to throw it. It's been a staple for me since I got it.

Anybody have anything good or bad to say about Holcombe's Water Spider? I just oredered one from Thorne Brothers last night. It's a huge lure, 10" long. I bet it will rumble big time. I looked hard at the Wave Walker too, but I wanted a solid body, I grabbed a jntd Creeper last season.

I have never used a muskie lure with those 'Flatfish' style wire arms off the body. I can se those getting messed rigt up real quick. Not to hijack this thread (some awesome input on Creepers, new to throwing them last summer, great tips thanks guys) but any talk about the wire arms, I'm all ears. Durabilty? Do they require constant tuning? How badly do fish mangle them in the net etc lol? They look so fragile, I can't beleive guys use the design for muskies. I gotta guess they're awlays thru-wire, thru the body? No way they'd last if they were screwed in independantly. I see how many guys love Creepers, looking fwd to your input, Thanks.

Mike,
Been battling a bout of Pneumonia so havent been out in the shop for almost 2 weeks. Got a batch of bodies all done just need to finish getting the wings on them. I'm hoping I feel up to getting something done before nest weekend, would like to take a few baits to the swap meet at Be Bops, but not looking promising right now.

You'll definitely have something before the season opens!

Castmaster, sorry to hear you are sick, I had it a few years back and I know how it knocks the crap out of you. I hobe you feel better soon.

The creepers sold on the Chip that Rich speaks of are Bob Alitz { Hope I spelled your name correctly Bob} or C.B creepers { Creeper Bob } and they are awesome baits. I have 9 of them in all different sizes and styles.......Hope that info helps

Also look for the my previous creepers, the production models to be around this summer since I have officialy sold the Bitten Tackle business to Daryl and Tera Neibauer from Hayward and I would like to welcome them to the baitmaking community............. Doug Bradley

Doug,
Starting to feel a bit better but still dont have much energy. Will you still be making your D.B. Custom Creeps or are you out of the creeper game altogether?

The creepenstein is the creeper made by Tanner Wildes. This bait flat out rocks you can see it at monsterlures.net. Joel Wick makes some of the best out there they will cost you but are worth every penny.

Castmaster, I really enjoy making the the custom creeps and am still able to but it will be nice to take a break for a while. As with anyone that enjoys this hobby, it is hard to just turn off so sooner or later I will turn some out. Once again I wish you a fast recovery and dont expect to get the energy back right away, it takes a while............Doug Bradley
