Posts: 32880 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I have fished all three alot, and like the Weagle the best for it's consistent fish catching, consistent action, and nice folks building and selling the lure.

Posts: 2687 Location: Hayward, WI | I haven't used the other two, but I really liked the Weagle I used this year. It did a good job of catching fish, and is a VERY solid bait. People talk about screw eyes getting pulled out of Jackpots. I don't know if that really happens or not, but a Weagle could survive a bombing. Very good hooking bait also. I had a few fish just totally miss the bait, but that happens with WTD baits. Any fish that hit the bait also hit the net. Has a great sound, works well in choppy water, just a great bait. Also, if you have a question, you can come to this site and ask the baitmaker himself. I am very skeptical of "hype" type lures, and don't fall into hype. Weagle isn't hype, it's a good bait. Saying all of that, I'm sure the other baits catch a lot of fish. The homewrecker is probably fairly similar to the Weagle in function. The Jackpot would be the most different - probably the most quiet. curleytail

Posts: 1057 Location: Medford, WI | My favorite WTD is a Jackpot for sure, but I can't say much for this discussion as I've never used the other two (Homewrecker and Weagle). I really look forward to the Weagle this summer and to see how different it is than other WTD's. Nothing beats throwing a WTD on a nice, calm sunrise. -Jake P.S. I've never had the screw come out of a Jackpot, but I have heard that from other people as you mentioned. Not sure

Posts: 457 | I REALLY didn't like the Weagle at first, because of the weight, and the way it sits in the water. Was really hard for me to get the hang of working right. Once you nail that action, you won't fish another side to side topwater. I have fewer fish blow weagles out of the water than Jackpots, by far. I like jackpots, don't get me wrong, but I'd fish a weagle over a JP in almost any situation.

Posts: 338 Location: Maryland | I havent had a chance too throw the homewrecker yet! How heavy is it? The weagle is a great wtd topwaterand cpnsistantly catches muskies. I have a couple jackpots and really do not like them. They tend too not wanna work right all the time and ride too high in the water.

If you want to catch a fish, drive it nuts with the Weagle. One of the best baits at triggering a strike. Active fish simply can not leave it along. If you are speed and power fishing, use a Jackpot as a "search" bait, much like a small burned bucktail. I perfer the Weagle, and always have 4 or 5 of them in the boat with me at all times. Weagle, large profile, slow presentation, great hook up percentages Jackpot, smaller profile, fished faster, poor hook up percentages Homewrecker is very inconsistent with proper weight since they are made out of "fruit trees" in China. Posts: 551 Location: Columbus, Georgia | My experience has been: Jackpot = good search bait (have another rig ready to throw). Weagle = more hook ups However; the Jackpot is much lighter and can be thrown forever. I get tired after about 30 minutes of throwing a Weagle. Edited by cjrich 2/7/2008 8:14 AM

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | most of the posts state a common theme of which i totally agree ... the jackpot and the weagle are used in two entirely different ways ... one is to cover water (jackpot) and the other is to trigger a known and located fish (weagle) ... i do the same thing as well, but i thought it would be good to note that my jackpots (search and cover baits) has been replaced by the maas maurauder by salmo ... it's a little heavier and i like the way it moves vs. the jackpot ... also, the black cherry color is really easy to see under low light conditions. it looks a little funny, but if you are a searcher with jackpots, give one a try and see what you think ... after throwing mine the first time it replaced the jackpot for that purpose. there's nothing like a weagle fish! as far as color .... black for me on all topwater baits. sound is your trigger and i don't buy into color on surface baits ... the contrast that comes from black and the water you are moving is plenty and any active fish will know you're there.

Location: Illinois | I'll throw a weagle for the first time this year. Honestly, I do not throw WTD baits often so this year I'll try to more. I'm a short guy and in the past have had trouble working WTD with rods longer than 7'0". I've been using Docs mostly and was wondering what people thought of these WTD baits./?

Posts: 1046 | weagle is great in choppy/windy conditions, Homewrecker is different and not a knockoff/ripoff. That bait is my go to in calm conditions, 2 very different baits in my opinion. Both outstanding big fish baits, its all in how you use them. As far as jackpots go I catch alot of little fish on them, and I use either of the big ones as a search bait when called for.

Has anyone on here used the Baby Weagle? What do you think of action/fish catching ability/early season bait or what? it's a different bait than the standard Weagle, as it has a much more subtle action than it's big brother. a bit more side-side winding and head-bobbing rather than the dramatic swooshing of the full-size. i like to use it when i want something a bit quieter and less aggressive.

You can work it that way... but you can also work it just like the standard Weagle and get the same SWOOSH...just a little tamer.
