No, this is not another 'what's your favorite lake or lure' list. If you were to build the perfect musky mix what would it be? Now remember, a walleye troller can listen to anything: Yani, Michael Bolton, Pavaratti but a musky fisherman, that takes a little something more interesting.

I would say Guns and Roses, Motorhead, Hell Ya and Pantera would have to be on there. You?

i prefer the quiet while i'm outdoors but... pantera, down, kaki king, atreyu, and some old hardcore stuff thrown in to get me all pumped up.

I've got a wide variety of tunes that I like to listen to while out on the water. Pink Floyd, Eminem, Phish, Grateful Dead, and Johnny Cash seem to stick out as getting a lot of playing time. I honestly don't know if anything can top watching Tuffdaddy do a jig on the front deck of the boat while listening to polka on his mini radio...anyone who has seen that in action is likely to agree.

Lazer's my man! Well, maybe not the M&M, but we'll stick in some Yes to cover that. Can't fish with Mauser without some Floyd and Yes in the boat (although I think in WVA the band is known as YEP!).

I always cast better when Jerry sings the blues. m

A one verse song that is yelled, it has no instramentals and is called "get the net", it's a oldie but a goodie.

i have really really odd tastes when it comes to music while fishing......

to start off with a laugh you have to have.....

1. "40lbs crappie" by Da Yoopers

then the mid section would have to be a mix bag of old punk/rock/angry....

Iggy Pop, Ozzy, Ted Nugent

to finish off if ya had a good day on the water you have to celebrate with.....

Drunken Sailor.....an Irish drinking/drunk/party band

I know this subject has been covered, though it remains relevant, as musical tastes change. Music in the boat is situational, but definately has its' place. We like most genres, though metal remains tops.

Black Label Society(Zakk Wylde)
Monster Magnet
Waylon Jennings- live in Austin
Fugazi
Alice Cooper-Welcome to my nightmare (became a night fishing fav).
Black Sabboth-old ozz stuff
Savatoge-Streets, a rock opera
Norah Jones- Come away with me
Danzig-first 4 albums
Metalica-And justice for all

bonus* Me First and the gimme Gimmies(good college party/cover band).

Packer game, when on, trumps above options.

No country boys on here?
Along with Ben, I left the radio in the rain one time so that one doesn't work; but we usually find a small radio if we're on a weekend trip.
Packer and Badger games are a must if we can find a station with them, otherwise it's usually country or some rock. Usually country stations are the only ones that come in where we are.
Radio stays off until we're just about dead from no action...sometimes singing (or yelling in our case) is the only thing to keep you awake! I still feel sorry for any guys on Mille Lacs that heard us this last summer after dark on the water. I thought for sure we would hear someone yell for us to shut up.
-Jake Bucki

(Eye of the Tiger for sure Mike...that song always gets me going!)

Whatever is on NPR Talk Radio.

If nothing I am interested in, then Zeppelin, Pink F, Eagles, anything older Ozzie, and a mix of classic rock and acid rock. Rap makes me work my Wabull, Reef Hawg, Suick, Weagle, etc. synchronized, so that's OUT. Ballads mostly put me to sleep. Ranger knows what sounds like a Muskie trip on the stereo.

I tend to leave the music mix up to my friend. It seems the same cd he makes for opening day stays in the player the whole summer. By fall I can't stand to hear any of the songs ever again.

For the most part I'm not that picky. None of that new country...I can handle country from the very early 90's and prior but anything after that makes me want to vomit. Classic Rock is always great. But if fishing on a Sunday in the fall....the Packer game is a must.

No tunes in my boat, except when PapaJoe in on board, he brings his own stereo system and makes me listen to WSP and the like.

Steve -

Mikie, Yes is "Yep" down yonder? In Michigan's UP, Yes is "Ya, eh?". If you are a non-Yooper and so must ask for clarification, like "Do you mean the band, Yes?" you'll get the response....

"Oh, for dumb! Ya!, I said ""Ya"", dint I!?! Jeeece!"

Me, I would have....

Dead
JGB
Ratdog
WSP
U2
Nitty Gritty, especially "Will the Circle Be Unbroken"!!
Cash
Dread Zepplin

and some exceptional old stuff...

Louis Prima Orchestra - Jazz Collector Edition
Louis Armstrong - On The Road (Live Cuts)
Benny Goodman - Jazz Collector Edition, Recorded Live 1935-1936

But I don't do tunes in the boat; on the water I need quiet time to recharge the inner-batteries. I certainly do rock out at home with my tricked-out big-a$$!! Yammaha system, just ask anyone who lives on this 1X1.5 mile lake here where I live. I've been proudly keeping my disgusted neighbors awake all night long on weekends for the last 25 years. Proudly.

I'm a little weird when it comes to taste in music so don't abuse me too bad when you see my top ten. Some of these guys are pretty relaxing... I actually had Manilow's Copa Cabana playing when I got my PB 54" out east two summers ago.

1. Elton John
2. Barry Manilow
3. Neil Diamond
4. Afroman
5. George Clinton
6. Elvis
7. Thin Lizzy
8. The Bangles
9. Tony Bennet
10. Billy Joel

Larry - a tip for what it is worth.....

don't ever, ever admit you listen, on purpose, to "Copa Cobaba". After doing that you have no credibility with, well, anyone. However, I should point out that your reference to George Clinton has negated my distrust of your musical opinions, but others may not be so forgiving.

We have an IPOD so we just bring it all. My favorites though are great guitar players like Stevie Ray, Blackmore, Malmsteen, Brian Setzer, Billy Gibbons,Paige, Beck, I also like old punk bands. Being 49 has its advantages when it comes to Rock and Roll , Ive heard just about all of it. I can listen to everything but syntho pop like Duran Duran . I really like a lot of the new Big Band Swing by Big Bad Voodo Daddy and Brian Setzer. Those guys can wail and its great casting music. Kingfisher

Hi all,

I don't have any tunes in the boat but the mix from the cabin to the dock goes like this:

ACDC- Thunderstruck

Leonard Skinner- The Breeze

Henry Conti- The Theme to "Rocky"

Saga- On the Loose

Motely Crue- Kick Start my heart

Guns and Roses- Welcome to the jungle

Led Zepplin- Misty mountain hop

That gets me going on day 5 of a 9 day trip and I still haven't hooked up yet.
