Boat #3, a Black and Tan 1750 Fishawk with a 90 Honda. I also have launch duty for the morning so if you guys see a guy drilling a hole in the bottom of your boat at the landing stop by and say hi because it is probably me.

Lunchie, you are more than welcome to crash at my place Friday evening to shorten your drive in the morning. Let me know. You will have to sleep on the floor but its available if you want it.

Not exactly sure when the launch will be available, but have been told in the past the people start showing up around 5am. Hope that helps.

For those of you fishing the Tournament, I have heard that speed trolling (6-7MPH) hawg wobblers is a great April Tactic on the Chain.

I'm coming in from Green Bay Wisconsin for this one, but I grew up on the north end of Channel Lake. My folks still live 5 minutes from McDermott's and that's where I'm staying. So I'll be there bright and squirrely.

I'm sportin' Scott Jenkins Ole' Tuffy Rampage Magnum, for those of you who knew him before he got that fancy new Tuffy Deep V.

We're starting 38th or 39th. My paperwork says one thing and the website says another.

Jason, I look forward to meeting you. You got a great partner! He blew me off! And you can tell him I said so - lol.

Anybody coming into town early (thursday or friday). Maybe we can meet at the local watering hole!

Good luck [:p]

I won't be there either. Good luck to all, you will need it. I figure a 30" fish puts you in the money![;)]

Wathcing the news last night, the weather forecast for Sat does not look very good, Rain all Day with scattered Thunderstorms some may be locally severe.[:blackeye:]

Has an alternate date been selected just incase?

Subject: Fox Chain Tourney this weekend!!

The good thing is that the forecast changes on a daily basis. I also heard potentially bad weather for Saturday but I also heard upper 50's low 60's with scattered showers. I love Chicago weather.

Backlash:

If we were betting, I'd put my money on a local. IMHO all the fish have not spawned yet so there may be more then a few ways to put fish in the boat. Last year it appeared to be fully post spawn and Kieth Eldrup slayed them with a new prototype 5" glide bait just outside a very well known spawning ground. If memory serves correctly there were 26 fish caught, several trolling.

For those that need it, here's an interactive map you can use to find McDermitts on Channel Lake.

MapQuest Map Link

It is in the SW corner of Channel Lake for those that might be considering an alternate location to launch. Shouldn't be too hard to find with all those boats parked out front.

Lunch Box

I agree but, aren't Saric, Jenkins, Gutman and Gallagher all local guides. I would have to think that gives them a good edge.

This tournament will be up for grabs. The weather has seen to that.

My money is on Keith Eldrup and Tom Olson thanks to those damn 5-1/2" Baby Jerkos that I can't seem to get my hands on!!!

I agree with Scott, The weather is the equalizing factor for this Tourney, last I heard 48 Degrees, NW wind 20-25mph,Rain all day w/ scattered Thunderstorms. Not a very pleasant day to be on the water[:knockout:]

We have received notice from one team that will not be participating. There will be atleast one opening for a standby team as a result. If you want to fish the tourney on a standby basis, here's how it works. At 5am we will start a standby list on a first come first serve basis. At 6:45am the groups that have not checked in will be DQ'd and we will replace them with standby's, beginning at the top of the list.

I find it hard to believe you big guns can't fish in bad weather. LOL My favorites, in no order.

1) Saric/Sullivan Any time Jim drops his boat in the water he's a favorite. His partner is a really good fisherman.

2) Olson/Eldrup If these guys are who I think they are, they have won the tournament in the past and really know how to cast the Chain

3) Gutmann/Wilson Phil knows the Chain and all the spots but, can he find the fish and get Wilson to stand up all day.

4) Jenkins/Smith Both good fishermen and they know the Chain. Always a favorite

5) Fudulov/Zastrow The M&M boys have won this tournament before. If they are on, they will be hard to beat.

6) Wren/Langhammer Good fisherman and know how to find fish.

Know, I hope I have jinxed you all

Sorry that was now and I forgot one thing, I'm sure there is more
favorites but, these are the ones I know.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I certainly don't want to be considered a big gun. I can screw up fish with the best of them (LOL).

The great thing about this fish is no matter how many you have caught in the past, they can still make you look silly. I hope someone's kid, wife or first time fisherman wins. That's what makes it all worth while.

Conditions will be tough. The last time out, the water temps in the back bays were only 48 and the main lake was 54. With the lows in the 30's through the weekend, it's going to be tough. The high wind conditions have made it tough for light penetration so new weed growth will be considerably behind what it was last year and where it is normally at for this time of the year.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that the water temps were still in the 30's a couple of weeks ago. It's hard to pattern fish under these conditions no matter where you are.

Good luck to everyone!
