Water, and Trail Mix is what you'll most likely find in my cooler. Maybe a diet Pepsi. On long days, perhaps a sammich. I usually save the beer for after I'm off the water.

Water. On ice, if it's hot out. I start at the crack of 10 AM after eating breakfast anyway.

  • water, water, and more water (got to stay hydrated!)
  • 2 energy drinks of some sort (Red Bull, 180, Sobe) sometimes Starbucks Double Shot
  • Gatorade on occasion to supplement the water
  • Pop Tarts
  • Granola Bars
  • Candy Bars
  • Fruit Snacks - gotta keep the scurvy away
  • Fruit - usually apples and bananas
  • nuts - peanuts, cashews, or mixed
  • carrots (on occasion)
  • everything to make sandwiches (lunch meat, cheese, bread)
  • sardines in season (usually only eat in the spring/fall)
  • chips

I'm sure I left out a few odds and ends.  Almost all of those are in the boat all the time.  Now some may know the reason why I don't eat at Bars/Restaurants and really can't suggest any because I don't leave the water once I am on it!

Gotta keep the furnace burning as there is nothing worse than bonking during prime time, or worse during the drive home.  I eat almost everytime I am moving spots.

One thing I tried a while back that was amazing:

1. Got up at 7:00am instead of 3:00am (2.5 hour drive to the lake)
2. Bacon, eggs, sausage, toast and hash browns for breakfast
3. Fished 10:00 to 11:30pm
4. drank a gallon of water that day (It was HOT!)
5. No beers at the launch afterwards

Funny thing, I was able to fish hard all day, I wasn't falling asleep driving home, and even though I didn't get home until almost 3:00 I wasn't wrecked all day the next day.

Food, water, and sleep are amazing things!!

Mid to late morning I make my way back to the cabin to see if the wife and kids are awake yet. If I'm by myself or with a fishing buddy we keep fishing.

I always bring a lot of water, aquafina for sure.
but, what keeps me on my toes and keen is red-bull.
Marlboro reds are my flavor.
I 2nd the Gentleman Jack (thanks Jo) only for catches though
If I bring beer, usually its coors light, (keeps you hydrated and buzzed)
for food I usually just pack some sandwiches, or those fleet farm orange slices,
those things will keep you going all day, not to mention sugar buzzed.
I don't think I really ever have a problem being tired on the water, the hype of ski's does it for me, just keeping mental focus is the biggest factor.
If Im on a lake with some nice cabbage, I'll smoke a little bit of that too, that usually brings them in.

We start the morning early with coffee and donuts. Then when the sun starts to get warm, usually around 7:30, we have a breakfast beer(Leinie's Summer Shandy has fruit juice in it, therefore it is a breakfast beer!) Then we switch to a variety of micro beers and hearty ham, salami, and roast beef sammiches and venison sticks.
