Posts: 32890 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Guide Bruce Becker put a 53.5"X24.25" Muskie in the Frabill today on the Cisco Chain. I just got off the phone with Bruce, he's pretty excited! Here's an email I received from Bob Maciulis of Outdoor Notebook, who just rteturned from a trip with Mr. Becker: Good morning, Steve!! Just got back from a four-day trip to Eagle River/Land O'Lakes/Watersmeet. Becker was popping walleyes from the lower Cisco Chain< he released some 35 pounds just in a two hour stretch, including a 29-plus incher. Looks good sitting in that 20-foot TUFFY holding such a beautiful fish. I just got off the phone with him. On the twentieth cast of the UP musky opener at 9:30 this morning, Bruce hooked a 53.5 inch musky (24.25 inch girth) and said he has "...about a hundred pictures of it and video that my client took." I told him I'd let you know asap. I thought this would be great for MuskiesFirst... Besides being cold and wet, still shaking from the adrenalin, Bruce hasn't been this excited in a long time. Tonight, we kick off a joint project with Bruce talking a column he'll be doing for a local newspaper up there. Will have him on our live-streamed and broadcast radio show on Saturday. The video is of the release, and will take a few days to put together. Congratulations to a great guy and good fisherman on a BIG Michigan/Wisconsin border waters Muskie.

Posts: 389 Location: Presque Isle Wisconsin | The cisco chain is one of my fave waters to guide on,although Wisconsin guides cant guide on the Michigan waters there.I beleive Bruce lives in Michigan so he can do all the lakes. The diversity of structure is outstanding and no matter if you are a deep or skinny water fisherman you will find it out there. The Muskie density in the Michigan lakes is quite low as all the stocking is done from the Wisconsin side;however the skis up there are notorious travelers and that low density can produce some very big fish especially with a cisco forage base on some of the lakes and an outstanding perch forage base on the others. The boat traffic can be horrendous in the summer, especially in the travel channels, but dont let it discourage you from giving the chain a shot as INTELLIGENT muskie pressure is fairly low in my opinion.Over-all its one of Wisconsins finest Muskie systems. It ranks as one of my favorite places to night fish as the boat traffic makes this approach a winner.Early mornings arent shabby either. Motor trolling is legal on the Michigan only lakes, not on any Wisconsin or border lakes so be aware of that. Perch colored twitch baits are always a good bait to start with on the chain, but throwing something they dont see a lot of will frequently get you some very big results. Fifteen lakes, good structure, nice places to stop for a cold one,and some big muskies as Bruce has just proven. Its a hard combo to beat.

Posts: 1636 | Congrats on an awesome fish! Remember folks...only 1-3 pictures of your fish of a lifetime...no release pictures...you may take too many *if you have a fast finger or advanced digital camera and end up with say 100 pictures, you could get in trouble with mike hulbert* LOL Edited by Reelwise 5/16/2007 11:14 PM

Beauty. Is that a black bucktail with an orange blade that I see next to that plastic box? Never caught any early muskies on that combo in the 6" or smaller size I wonder if that was the weapon of choice?

Becker....Nice Ski Buddy..You had to wait untill I left town to catch that monster. Bruce is one of the best guides in the Land O'Lakes area, if anyone ever has the chance to fish with him it is an excellent experience. Bruce has the knack to putr his clients on to big fish, both musky and walleyes. That musky looks as big as the one vito caught with you the time my wife would'nt let me go fishing with you a couple of years ago....anyway if any of you ever want to fish with bruce you can reach him at 906-358-0995 or 715-360-6001 you wont be dissapointed. It looks like your going to have another fantastic year! Congratulations Mike
