 Pewaukee Lake vs Okauchee Lake

With lots of hype already starting and ice fishing for game fish now over I was thinking about getting a Pewaukee Lake vs Okauchee Lake Opening weekend fun going. Total number of Muskie Inc points wins. This will make it equal in the large fish vs numbers issue. We will figure out something to make it an equal compitition between the lakes.

Smokey's Muskie Shop will hold it's anual Friday night party for everyone who would like to stop down and get the scoop on the lakes. There is rumors of a special treat that will happen. Food related. Stop down for some food, drinks and fun.

With Steve Worrall coming down and Slamr coming up to fish the opener I am sure we can make this a huge event. What are the actual odds of Steve being here to fish?

Battle of the lakes is started and we shall see what lake will come out as "Top Dog".

Well it's on!!!

Sign up on this tread. Post you name and lake. I will edit this post with the names. Please post partners name also.

Me and my partner have a fat pig we've been chasing for three years on Okauche. If somebody caught her, we would have heard about it. Maybe this year?

Fished the opener last 5 years on Okauchee, and yet to boat a fish. So where will I be? Okauchee of course. I just hope to get to the launch early enough. Since when is 4:30 late. Last year got there at 4:30 and had to leave cause the launch was full. Came back at 11:00 no problem but all the fish already saw everyone elses baits. Whats this about Smokeys I would like more info.

It was like that before it was talked about on the net. There are only 17 spots at the public launch on Okauchee. You can still launch at a private one, but they charge you an arm and a leg sometimes. (sometimes they are cool and it's only $10)

Okauchee is the home of some huge fish. On the average they are fatter and longer fish for fish when compared to Pewaukee Lake fish.

Smokey's always has a small party on Friday, the day before the opener, for all of us who like to get together and get primed up for Saturday morning. Somehow it always seems to hurt the next morning BUT that hurt always goes away as the sun comes up and the baits start flying.

Maybe we should do a Muskies Inc point systed so the bigger fish will get more points. That way when Pewaukee kicks the snot out of Okauchee in numbers it might be close in points.

Look for the Extreme Team to put a hurtin on Okauchee Lake.

If Slamr is going to Okauchee then Steve Worrel will have to fish Pewaukee. I will consult Steve Friday night to make sure he get his share of fish.

Let the trash talk start................

I never fish opening weekend....but I'll be out there Mon-Fri every morning with the place to myself. Might fish both lakes in a day.....who am I crapping? I'll fish P for 3 hours, then I'll sleep in the truck for 3 or 4 hours and then fish O for 3 hours.
I hope it warms fast, I really enjoy some of the days that I spent on both of those lakes where I would throw for skis until I got tired, and then would go flippin' and pitchin' for a few hours. I have pounded some of my biggest bass ever on those 2 lakes in the early spring.
I heard from some guys that the bass fishing has really fallen off in both of those lakes. I'll have to find out. One day on one of those lakes I fished for muskies until the sunshine and lack of wind drove me to pitching docks. By mid afternoon I had caught and released over 50 fish. A mixture of smallmouths and largemouths with a 20" smallie and my biggest largemouth of 24 3/4" that had to go 7+ pounds. Like a green football.
Anyway, make sure and post about which of the lakes in the area is hot and what lures are producing, and I'll keep you up to speed during the week.
Maybe if the other Walking Bull is tired of catching walleyes up nort, he could drive down and join me for a couple of days.

Would a 9.9 be too small for Okauchee? m

I'm sure he'd be more than happy to do that for ya.

Why do you need a 9.9? If for some reason you do need a 9.9, you could definitely use that. It's usually not too brutal wind wise early in the year out there, plus there are plenty of places to get out of the wind.

I'll be on Peewaukee again for the opener. While I like Okauchee, Pewaukee was my home water.

Let the chumming begin! Ah, not in my new boat! Magruter, I would drink Odoul's at Smokey's! hehehe

We will find room for everyone. Plenty of places and friends that live in this area.

Lets hear it from those oKROTCHee boys. You better get some good sticks together or your going to get smoked!!!!

I can't wait, this is going to be a great time for all. I hope John from Smokey's Muskie Shop is ready for this.

Since Mikes talking smack and the Okauchee crew cant rely on Joel to catch a legal fish (6 shorties...MAYBE), Ive decided to pick up the slack and fish Okauchee..LOL

Just to make it fair it should be Pewaukee VS Okauchee/Oconomowoc..Either way, the Pewaukee "boys" are gonna be chewing some shoe come Sat night..

As usual, Im open to any "friendly" wagers..

Dude, the shorties are from Pewaukee Ben. Sheesh.
Mike, After I put the first 20 fish in the boat should I call you, or after?

Sooooo, who else will be heading to the big O? I think we have The Dude, TDiddy, Coop, Ben (are you sure you want to fish Okauchee? You might have to work for a fish. heh heh heh). Who else?
