Hi guys,
I'm working on a painting which I hope will one day grace the cover of Musky Hunter Magazine and possibly be sold as prints. I never really show my art before it is done but I'd like to share this special one as it comes along. This way you will see it come to life a little at a time. I truly hope you enjoy the journey. Here it is is it's very raw state with the Musky and one sucker in its mouth barely fleshed out. Eventually this will be as detailed as any of my baits and with luck I won't screw it up!!!

Looking good Snax! If it turns out half as good as your baits do I am sure I will own 1245/5000. Or something like that...

Thanks guys. This one will take some time to complete as I spend countless hours making baits before endulging in any personal time.

Awesome! Very nice. Can't wait to see the finished product. It'd be cool to have another thread, or add to this one, with the progress shots along with the final product. What medium are you working with to do that painting?

The painting is done using the airbrush, pencil, and acrylics with paint brushes for certain effects. I use whatever works best to get the result I'm after. I will update this thread with photos when time allows. Thanks for the nice comments everyone.

Thanks again guys. I worked on it a little more this afternoon. Remember that certain things may seem overdone during this stage but will be adjusted as it progresses. An example is the light rays which will be blended during subsequent steps. The fun for me is seeing my imagination appearing on the paper before me!

Snax, way cool. They way some of you guys have been painting, I think it is neat that somebody took it another direction. Would be cool to see other's try it or some other kind of artwork as well. Great job!

Snax,

What a gift. I am and have always admired the talents of people like yourself. I wanted to thank you for sharing a little piece of that gift with the rest of us mortals. Truly amazing stuff.

Great to see this. I always like seeing any type of art related to muskies; and someday I hope to find a way I can do something half-way "artistically". I started to paint baits this winter a little bit and plan on continuing to do so in the future.
Thanks for sharing this as well as your baits in the other forum, Jake Bucki

After working hard all weekend on an upcoming series of articles on custom lure painting for Iwata-Medea, I finally got to work on the musky painting a little. As I mentioned before, there may be colors that are not quite right until it is completed but with each layer it's getting closer and closer. By the Iwata-Medea makes the airbrushes and air compressors I use and will be featuring my four how to articles on their website soon. It's a huge honour for me to be showing the world what can be done with dedication and imagination. I hope I do all us bait makers proud!

Oh, I can't believe I almost forgot to mention the coolest part about these articles...
The last lesson is how I paint my Bluegills and the bait used in the photos is the very Bluegill I'm donating to MuskieFirst! This bait is one of the colaboration baits we talked about doing and it will have the other side of it done by my buddy Tigger once I send it out to him. That will be neat for whoever ends up with it as it will have been featured on the Iwata website and newsletter for all to see how it was done!
