Posts: 956 Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | Now Im trying to explain to coworkers that the one guy was right in saying " I should play the lotto". My friend said' "Yeah right." I sat and thought about it. The angler probably does have better odds at winning the lotto than catching a 57" AND a 58" incher witnin 30 minutes of eachother. Again think about it. The odds that you could find two fish of that size in the same area alone are astronomical AND both willing to bite AND be able to keep them buttoned down till they reached the net. That guy should be in line for 100 quick picks. Again now that I think about it he'd probably winbuying only 1 quick pick. Karl

Posts: 53 | Believe it or not, the week before, he landed a 56", and a day or 2 later, he got a 59"....no, that isnt a typo. He wrote an article for Muskies Canada, and gave out a little more information that wasn't in the show. Incredible fish thats for sure!

Posts: 32930 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | That probably is one of the most explosive few minutes of REALLY big, in the net muskie action on tape. I really liked how the emphasis on handling is covered.

Posts: 680 Location: Muskoka Ontario,Canada | My God that was an amazing video!!! I agree that it was cool to see the emphasis on the safe releases. Hopefully it will lead to otherwise unknowing anglers handling their catches with care. I'm proud to say that I'm currently doing some custom paintwork for Steve Bedarf who caught the fish. Hope he sticks something huge on one of them this season!!!

Posts: 378 Location: Michigan | Marc really does place a stong emphasis on handling those big girls with care. I witnessed it first hand while fishing with him in sept 05. Always keeps the fish out a minimum amount of time and measures in the water in their natural state. While casting, we saw 4 fish in the mid 50's in 4 days and handled one. Looking forward to sept 07. That fishery is something else... Edited by Chadster 1/21/2007 5:42 AM

Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | One thing I noticed in the video while measuring is that there was no pinching of the tail. Could this have increased the length another inch or so?

it doesn't add much, not an inch for sure

Thansk for sharing thoughts on the show,I really liked an appreciated the edcuational value I tried to share. Simply passing on what I was taught and what I have learned from my observations Did anyone notice how big Bedarf is next to me? Also like to bring a correction to some numbers posted The longest fish ever boated was 58 by Steve Bedarf,we did not boat a 59 We did boat a 55 and 55.5 or 56 in the same hour few days in and around the Bedarf and Aaron Shriley period All in all it was the Day of the Giants and a rool of the dice

sean61s, I was taught the basic fundamental values of Catch and release by all that are older than me and all that educated most of us The list is long but it covers media, magazines,Tv,web and a host of people who have spent their lifetime educating folks on the benefit of release, from there I used my own observations and exeprience to come to certain conclusion and methods on my perceptions from the experience I have aquired through handling multiple individuals and their do become individuals as they get to a certain size As far as catching fish, time on the water and retaining observations, being at the right place at the right times more often than not leads to a certain amount of success Diversity and the will to travel to accomplish certain goals generaly result in good honest work Always remeber those that paved the road before you and those that helped you along the way

Location: 31 | I just wanted to offer my public congratulations to Marc and Steve for a job well-done, not only for the back-to-back capture but more importantly the proper release and care of those magnificent fish. To have captured it on video like that is just incredible and is certainly a standard for proper release methods on giant fish... just another day at the office for Marc. Something almost as neat, and just as peculiar that you'll find almost as mind boggling is Rich Delaney boated a 55.5 and a 56 on the first and third spots with Marc just a week or so before this video was shot. Rich is a little too humble to say anything but I felt you should know there was a little more to this story than "just" the 57 and 58. I don't know what the odds are on either of these events happening again is, but if you're considering a few days with Marc I can tell you that you will not be disappointed with the various opportunities you will have with him to capture a fish like this. I've known Marc for over 10 years now and honestly couldn't tell you how many 50's I've touched so far out east... it's truly an amazing fishery and the setup Marc has now is first-class. I say "now" because the first couple times we fished together Marc had a 1970 something pickup with no suspension that would literally rattle your fillings loose.............. "Always remember those that paved the road before you".................. HA- some of us were just glad the road was paved Marc! It seems like yesterday eh', thanks for everything dude!
