Posts: 3147 | Ive been watching this pretty close but every two years theres a bait that surfaces that sends people into a feedy frennzy, musky world version of play station 3,, every year we have must have baits but its every two where we get crazy,,check the history??? 1997 "none" no internet muskie sites yet 1999-"hughes river jerkbaits" apart from the cobb's ammabama,Eddie not many glidebaits on the market this was the worlds "first" internet hype muskie bait.,,my god a bait that costs $25!!! 2001-The Manta-cant get enough glidebaits by this time, revolutionary design and the first bait to really make use of recorded pool footage,,Remember how hypnotized you were watching the manta swing back and forth on the TV' in the show booth at all the expos. 2003-Tripple D,,,Mans worst fear was would there be any left after the Chicago show!!!,,,desined by a REAL engineer,,special injected outer shell, rear stablizer fins,,the ability to suspend at depth,,sounded like the latest threat to NATO submarines. 2005 "The Weagle" where do you even begin!!! every other thread on every klnown musky webboard for a year was about this subject.,,risky proposition taking tickets at the shows for fear of being trampled when the gate open on the first day 2007???????? get to work baitmakers your "window" is open

Posts: 8781 | There seems to be a year or two between coming out, people talking about them, people catching lots of fish on them, and then everyone has to have 10. Somewhere back a few years ago bulldawgs were like that, and now you don't pass a boat with more than one guy in it where someone isn't throwing one. A couple weeks back I was down on Big Barbee, thought I would throw a white bulldawg -- shad, cold, fall, why not?. Passed another boat, ALL THREE GUYS throwing white bulldawgs... Last year in our club tournament, same thing. I didn't pass a single boat where someone wasn't throwing a bulldawg. This past year there were a few times I heard that "clink clink clink" sound coming from a couple other boats around me while I was throwing guess what, a tandem #10 blade bucktail. So BN... I think Cowgirls have already happened in 2006. Weagles happened in 2005, Not sure when everyone bought dawgs. 2007??? Year of the Xrap, maybe? The REAL question is are these baits really worth the frenzy or is it self fulfilling? Imagine how many muskies would be caught on Bomber Long A's if everybody was throwing them all of the time...

hey EA you go right ahead and throw your bomber long A ...think of how many muskies wouldn't be caught if everyone was throwing them...you'd be surprised i bet how many anglers are not or did not use the big doubles this year...I doubt there will be a hotter bait than the big doubles in 07 again..heck i'll start off throwing them in May...and the Pounder... i know one guide that put more big fish in his boat on pounders in WI than you can imagine...

In 2007 double 10 domination will get even stronger. http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=30... Edited by Bytor 12/6/2006 6:15 PM

After seeing Beav's Perkas this fall, I definitely will be buying a few. I tried to put in an order for a couple of 10"ers as well, but he says that he doesn't know when or how many or what colors he will even have available. Definitely none for the shows, but he said to watch here because this is the only place that he posts them when he does have some ready. MMorgan

I like the leader idea also, there is a guy making some trolling leaders for those Pounders and Suzy Suckers that sound very promising, can't wait to get my hands on a few, but then I'll have to buy a Pounder, LOL, I can already see one ahead of a Monster Deep Runner in my head. Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | I usually don't do this, and I'm not involved other than on a friendship/tryer outer basis! But I had pretty good luck this past year with this lure "the Rumbler" (so did Dick Pearson and Jack Burns). It's made by a friend/client of mine and he's going to have a few for sale at Chicago. It's a heavy topwater that floats and it's solid so it won't break. You can throw it a mile, and because it's heavy it doesn't blow out of the water when a fish hits. It has a nice loud "pop", that's a litle different and tunable. So far thay are great lures that have caught me (and Dick and Jack) a good number of fish. I've ony had prototypes but Don says that the production models will be be even better. Here's a photo of one. Posts: 1060 Location: Palm Coast, FL | Another vote for the lifelike lures from Dunwright Tackle. If you haven't seen these baits...visit their website and look at the video. These lures look amazing! I think another bait that was hot for 2006 was the 10" Kickin Minnow...although it didn't hold up very well. The tail kept wanting to break off. Dan Vogel from Dunwright Tackle has "tackled" that problem with a new kind of rubber. It is very durable. At the end of the video look at the stretch in the lizard's tail...stretches out about 2-3ft. and comes right back again!

Posts: 1937 Location: Black Creek, WI | If its solid plastic, it has potential to dominate (in my opinion). The "Rumbler" that Dougj referenced will most certainly get a look from me.... but I predict it won't become a "must have" until they start catching fish and the "self fulfilling prophecy" kicks in. So... I predict that lure will be a late arrival on the "must have" list for 2007. By August... everyone will need one if it does what Dougj says (and who could doubt DougJ?). Double Bladed #10 Colorado designs will most certainly kick butt in 2007..... riding the heals of their success in 2006. That's a no brainer. I also think that the Magnum LongTale spinnerbait will cash in on some of the recent rave over the classic #10 Colorado blade. There aren't too many spinnerbaits that can get the kind of speed out of a #10 colorado that the LongTale can. And when speed is the ticket.... you can't beat the standard LongTale with a #8 Willowleaf. Those in the know.... have already enjoyed that success in 2006. But... I'm obviously biased in that opinion. And... a larger version of the X-Rap 14 would be a real winner.... but I haven't heard that there will be such a release in 2007. Is that just wishful thinking.... or is there such a possibility???

Posts: 906 Location: Warroad, Mn | Quess I forgot to mention that the Rumbler is solid plastic (not hollow), you can hit it with a hammer and it won't break or leak. Floats fairly low in the water, but still seems to do pretty well in waves. Doug Johnson

Watched that Dunwright video. My guess is that those lures will be tremendous because the action is so life-like. Hard to believe that they won't catch fish.

Posts: 1462 Location: Davenport, IA | Has anyone thrown the new odyssey gator? I picked one up a few weeks ago. Its like a dawg but the tail is split into 2, so there are 2 tails that move the same. It also has 2 "fins" in the front. It could be a hot lure.
