What would you say to a energy source that would power anything now powered by AA cell batteries, replacing thousands of batteries with one package of hydrogen energy cells? Leave 'em in the charger for weeks on end, no worries. Get hundreds of photos out of a digital camera per charge, power a flashlight or cap light MUCH longer, no worries about very hot or very cold weather robbing your energy source of longevity. Now how about the charger and EIGHT of these totally rechargeable energy sources for about $24? I'm in the middle of a new product review of this product, and must tell you these things rock.

I bought a set at Reeds in Walker, MN. Kit includes 8 batteries and a charge. Charges 4 batteries at once. Just started using them so I can't say one way or the other, but the hype sounds good to me.

Good luck, Murph

I am in. Do they have them in other battery styles too? A deep cycle would be nice!

Mr. Worrall,

Who is the manufacturer of this product? I work right down the hall from a company called altairnano who are creating similar technologies. It is amazing what is possible really, I'm assuming that in the next few years we should see some pretty amazing new products on the market in the energy field (deep cycle batteries hopefully!)

I've been using them for a couple weeks and am very impressed. I have the 4 cell charger, and am picking one up for 8. The cells last at 100% considerably longer than any battery I've tried to date, can be left in the charger 24/7 safley, offer a 'no curve' discharge until empty outputting full power until the charge goes to zero, are inexpensive, and just plain cool. Watch the Outdoors Products stores first, that will be where you'll find them for the time being. I'll have a link to a website soon, as well. I'll check on the stock thing, but don't think this is a publicly held company yet.

The contents of the E-cell are harmless, biofriendly, and unlike lithium batteries, not prone to leak or explode if abused a bit. They will be available in the standard 'battery' sizes, and the chargers will be available from specific to charge- all- size- models.

The folks at E-cell tell me the most important issue is to charge the cell completely before the first use.

I think EBunny season just opened.

Mark Martin (the walleye pro) showed me these this past winter and I was impressed with the hype but as of yet I still haven't bought any. I have probably bought $50 worth of AA batteries in the same time, I think it's time to get a set. BTW Mark is sponsored by this company and his boat is wrapped in there wrap.

Does anybody know any place in Wisconsin that is carrying them?

Just my 2 cents.

These are not nicad or alkaline, nor are they Nickel-Metal Hydride bartteries. They are literally hydrogen energy cells and unlike the NMH batteries, do not overcharge or create a dangerous situation if left in a charger for an extended period of time. Open one up, it's basically saltwater. We will have the link the distributor and manufacturer wants us to use ready for you soon.

Editor's Note:
The manufacturer has requested we use a link that is under development, look for it very soon. There have been some changes to pricing and product in the last few months, so we'll provide that info as soon as it is ready to go.

NiMH batteries are popping up all over now.
I just bought Energizer NiMH batteries, charger and a extra battery coupon for $20.00.
I'll be getting them for cameras, walkie-talkies, my kid's games....lots of stuff.
After doing research, it seems like the only way to go. Goobye 24 paks on-sale. Hello to a dozen of them that will last me for longer than the 24.
Now if they would just create a recharger for me, I'd be happy.

Beav,
E-cells are not NiMH. They are literally rechargable hydrogen cells, and can be left in the charger 24/7. Here's what it says about NiMH batteries and charging:

'Do No Harm

Marks the paydirt That one-liner from the Hippocratic oath is the perfect starting point for NiMH battery management. To avoid shortening runtimes and service life, everyone agrees that you must

*

Charge, deploy and condition loose rechargeable NiMH AAs in fixed sets, as if they were part of a battery pack.
*

Avoid overcharging like the plague it is.
*

Do whatever you can to avoid overheating during charging.

A smart charger that knows when to quit on its own is the key to success here. Deploy your charger in a cool, well ventilated area. If your charger has a cover, leave it open during charging if possible.
Conditioning

If you do nothing more than follow the guidelines just given, your NiMH AAs will live long and prosper. But getting the very most bang from your batteries will require just a bit more effort:

*

To maximize runtimes, condition your batteries—once when first entering service and then very occasionally when runtimes begin to sag noticeably. Typically, that will occur near the end of the set's service life, which can be stretched a bit with judicious conditioning.
*

Between conditionings, favor shallow discharges over deeper ones to maximize service life—but don't make a religion of it.

With a fast conditioning charger to speed you through largely unattended conditioning cycles, the pain/gain ratio should stay well within tolerance. That said, bear in mind that repeated deep discharges can shorten service life considerably and unnecessarily.
Marks the gotchas Too much NiMH conditioning is far worse than none at all.

I freely admit that the utility of NiMH conditioning remains controversial in forums like RPD, but I've experienced the benefits of conditioning first-hand. For the $8-10 a replacement set of NiMH AAs will cost you, these efforts may not be worthwhile for you, but they have been for me. '

The E-cells are totally memory free too, can charge basically all the time, do not have the 10% loss when out of the charger and sitting around, and will stay at full output until the charge is used. No worries about developing 'sets' of batteries or conditioning, either. 8 E-cells and a charger are going to retail at about $24. All one has to do is charge them in full before the first use, then it's basically bulletproof. So far, they are still holding at full in the two tests I have going, a week further than the Nicads I had.

Well, where can I get them?
I just read all of the literature that came with mine, and it says to fully charge them, and once they have reached full charge the charger will shut off. I'm supposed to get at least 50% longer life in a camera, and they lose 1/2 of 15 of their charge per day while the camera sits idle. When I search E-Cells, I see that they are a pack that is sealed, but there is no place listed to buy them.
My charger will hold 4 AAA or 4 AA at once, or 2AA and 2AAA.
I don't think that I wasted $20, because the life of the batteries in my camera was short at best. These have to be better.
I'd like to find out where to buy the E-Cells and use them. Let me know where I can get them in the Milwaukee area, because I can't find them.

Anybody....where can I get them?
I have a digital video camera for Fathers Day, and it eats batteries. Runs on 4 AAAA's.
If I can't find any soon, I'm just going to guy some of the same ones taht I bought yesterday, because I can use the same charger for AAA's as AA's.
I rather get these, but even doing a search, I can only find test results and crap like that, but no listing of retailers.
Anybody?
I try to find their site, and all I get is prison bracelets!!!!
Beav
Found their websit....www.notabattery.com....I think.
I ordered a dozen AA's, a dozen AAA's and a charger that holds both and charges them independently.
Good-bye regular batteries.

I went to the website, and I was curious about a few things that aren't mentioned there.

With the slow charge, how long does it take to charge the batteries?

If I'm running a GPS and a digital camera, I think 8 cells is enough, but which charger do I need to charge 4+ batteries at a time? I want to make sure I always have 4 charged, and 4 in use.

Thanks,
Dan

That's the way the 8 cell kit is set up. I have 4 in the charger and 4 in use at all times. Since you don't need to worry about the cells in the charger and can just leave them on charge, they are always ready.

How long for a charge? Is the $19.99 package the one I want? From the picture the $19.99 version looks like it only holds two cells at a time (to charge).

Confused...

I charged the first 4 overnight, and they are still going in the camera and LED display lights I'm using them in. So the second set is still in the charger.

Beav,
E-cells are not NiMH. They are literally rechargable hydrogen cells, and can be left in the charger 24/7. Here's what it says about NiMH batteries and charging:

This is from the e-cell from e-village website:
The E-cell is a NiMH enclosed fuel cell employing the same advanced technology that powers the automotive industries hybrid vehicles.

How can you say they are not NiMH?

Am I looking at the incorrect website?
