of course, someone forget to send those Leechers the memo that they're supposed to be spawning out in some deeper water...

I reckon they are both females, too similar in size to be both male and female. Pre spawn maybe?

Chico- you might be right- you know how the female's of the human species always seem to have to hang out together, even going to the john when you're out on a date w/ another couple (pre-sexual activity). Maybe muskies have a similar prediliction as the urge to spawn comes on!

Nice photo-

Have fun!
Al

That is awesome! I heading to the Longville area this weekend, anyone know if they are still netting walleyes for the eggs on Woman Lake. I would love to take the kids to see it.

Totally cool picture. I am curious as to what size a female is big enough to start reproducing? Is it age? Or size that triggers reproduction?

MuskieMike,

Muskies normally reach spawning age after 3 years ~ about 35 inches in length here in Illinois.
I can't speak for other states.

How do you guys know that they are Leech Lake strain???????

Did you know that Mlle Lacs was planted with muskies from WI's Kallepp's Fish Farm? They took eggs from Lac Courte Oreilles and this stocking took place from 1984 thru 1987.

I read this in the latest WI Outdoor News in an article by Dean Bortz called "On the Trail"

Just talked to the person that took the picture as i was curious about the size because the fish looked so thick.
Both of those buggers are 48 plus. Figured from the thickness that they were longer than they look in the picture. #*^@ , i wish the season was underway....
