Luke and Steve with Muskie Mojo Tackle have been working their butts off to get baits made. They just got a shipment sent out to me at Musky Tackle Online. So if you've been wanting a Weagle, now is a great time to get them at http://www.muskytackleonline.com/acatalog/Topwater.html

Holy hey-zuss, I can buy two Jackpots for the price of a single weagle. And I already have two jackpots. One of which is killer. Are weagles really that much better?

What is it that makes them better? Do they move more water? Sit lower? Hook better? I just can't see what it could be, that would make them any better than a Viper, Jackpot, Doc, or any other walk-the-dog type bait?

Anyone know what it is?

To answer your question... what makes them different is that they move a TON more water. They make a much more distinctive SWOOSH sound than any other walk the dog type top water due to the fact that they are heavier and larger. They are not really that great of search baits either... much slower cadence. Hope that helps..

I wasn't planning on getting one, but did want to know why they'd be any better than the 50 other walk-the-dog baits out there. Thanks for the info.

Yep.....they work.

39 muskies caught in 2005 in my boat last year on Weagles...........I'd say they are a must have.

i'll mention this since everyone seems to forget it about the weagle

in rough water, they run great.

Yes they move more water, Yes they sit lower, Yes they hook better. IMO they are better than all the other WTD baits. Totally different bait than a Jackpot for instance.

I got a chance to throw my new Mojo Weagle yesterday and I like it better than my Nut Weagles. As many people have stated the Mojo version is lighter than the Nut version. It still swooshes and you can work it slow if you like, but for those that like to move their baits fast(Sworrall, ect) the Mojo Weagle is awesome. Great product Luke and Steve, more versatile than the Nut version...big thumbs up from Bytor.

Just became part of the 'Weagle Family', gentlemen, and I couldn't be prouder!!! Went with the 'jail-bird' pattern because that's what my 'psychic friend' told me to do.

Got a good feeling about this one, boys.

Well, I had asked the question of whether or not they changed the bait on another board, and this is the second time I have been told they are definitely lighter. Not what I wanted to hear.

I didn't get an old one cause they we're hard to get unless you paid out your ass. I always said when they're under $30 I'll pick one up. But now that they're under $30 they are differant so maybe next year, maybe not.

I'm not sure what the Nut Weagles tipped the scales at. But I have many Mojo Weagles in front of me. Any wood bait is going to vary from lure to lure. But after putting 10 different Mojo Weagles on the scale, they ranged from 3.92 to 4.4 ounces. My scale is used for mailing purposes and has always been dead on accurate with the Post Office scales.

At our pool demo on last week the MuskieMojo Weagle was one of the ones that was demoed. Sat on the water, didn't hope out when you walked it (like a Jackpot) made the swoosh sound and pushed a ton of water.

Sounds like the Mojo Weagle is the answer for the guys who bought Nut Weagles and didn't like them because they were too hard to work.

Now here is the real question:

In rehards to weight and buoyancy, how do the Mojo Weagles compare to the 2006 Nut Weagles, which also were lighter than some of the older Nut Weagles?

Been reading all this Weagle business for awhile and figured I would add my two cents and hopefully clarify a few things for some people...

Has the bait changed since the ones last year that THE NUT was making? - yes, Steve Cady changed the bait prior to our purchase of the bait. And, I'm pretty positive that the "Final Four" Weagles that were sold by Cady are the same blanks as the Mojo version. This change allows us to use a better primer and a better clearcoat. Meaning your Weagle will not hook rash and get waterlogged, turning it into a sinker, as quickly as the they once did.

Are they lighter? - Yes, this allows the bait to be worked more consistently on the surface, where it belongs, instead of diving. It also makes it a little easier to work. Though, in my opinion, slack line is even more key in the presentation than it once was.

Is there a variance in weight from bait to bait? - Sure...it's wood...it happens.

Does it sit higher in the water? - Yes, a little. I have compared a bunch of the current bait to all of my old baits and the new ones do sit a little higher. But, even the lightest one still has water to the top of they eye. I saw it posted somewhere that the new ones sit with 2/3 of the body out of the water. This is simply not true. If your bait sits like this, please return it and I will replace it as something is definitely wrong.

Does it still move a bunch of water? - Absolutely

Does it still "SWOOSH"? - Absolutely

Is the trademark Weagle action and hooking ability still there? - Absolutely! I have thrown both and cannot tell a difference in the sound of the water moved. SJ, the guy who caught more fish on the "original" Weagles than almost anybody alive, has thrown both and cant tell the difference. And, I've heard from a number of other guys that have told me the same thing.

Steve and I have both been big fans of the Weagle since its inception, and (belive it or not) if we thought that the current bait were not up to the standards of the old one we would go back to the other design in a heartbeat. This was actually the plan until I heard the current bait in the water.

I am not trying to promote myself here or convince anyone to buy any more baits. I am simply trying to answer some of the questions that I have seen arise lately concerning the Weagle.

Please feel free to email any time at [email protected] with any questions.

EA,

2006 NUT Weagles were made exactly as I am making them now. Just a different guy doing it.

I only have one question to all of you guys that are complaining about the new weagles!!

Do they still catch fish??

YES!!! So what's the big freaking deal. What does it matter if they are lighter than the originals. It's still a great bait made by two great guys. I know I will continue to support them even if they do make changes. It's just simply a great bait!! PERIOD!!

Interesting, very interesting. So how did the Nut Weagle company become the Mojo Weagle company , or is the Nut Weagle company still around.

i think it's a testament of faith in the Mojo baits by Luke and Steve by saying "if this is the case, send it back and we'll get you a "right" one"

that goes a long way in my book.

good luck clearing all the hoopla guys

soon enough, it'll be like Ozzy said...."i've been on my own longer than i was with Black Sabbath....."

you get my drift

Zach,

Muskie Mojo Tackle bought the rights to the Weagle and the Wabull. Musky Nut is still around, but no longer associated with either of these lures.

Luke you guys don't need to change anything.....you are putting out a great product.

Now onto the Mojo Wabull

After finally getting to throw my Nut Wabull yesterday....I have become a huge Wabull fan. I need more residence in Wabullville.
When will Mojo Wabulls be available?

I bought several from Cady at the Chicago show. Do those have Mojo? If not, if I put them in a bag with the XXX I bought in Milwaukee, will Mojo rub off on the Weagles? Steve or Baldy, do you just sell Mojo that a guy could apply to baits? If not, you should figure that out, you could make a fortune. I bet people would pay a couple hundred bucks for a bag of Mojo.

Kevin

Trying to include some Mojo in the plan.

For those of you that love the Weagles, Ryan Jinkerson makes an awesome bait that is quite similar, and I think mabye even better. I even witnessed him catch a 30.5 inch walleye on it last July while we were chasing muskies. If anyone is interested, I can get you his phone #. His bait is called a Sidekick. Jason Bovee
