danczyk posted earlier. take a good look at his lures...... http://www.danczyk-lures.com/

in my opinion, one of my top 3...just knocked my novaks down to #4.

definitely TOP of the line construction....no jab at anyone else either, cuz i love my other 2 boys' baits a LOT.......this says a lot, cuz Jed V and Beav REALLY make good baits....chad is right there construction wise, patterns, colors and customer service.

im serious....they are made so well, i feel the need to get 10 more.

the action on each different one that i have is UNBELIEVABLE!

if you haven't bought one, you won't know why im so excited about these, so just go get one and share the excitement...some of you know, i have a retardedness for gliders....these are soooo nice man, i can't wait to get the 14" lure!
i can't say enough good about them, and Chad is an AWESOME dude to work with.

of course, my other 2 faves, Bikini baits and Beavers......class A guys and great lures, can't go wrong with any of the 3 of you guys.

thanx, from the yeti (gt.ivan) for making killer stuff for me to abuse!!!

We all make different stuff.
I was blown away by my first Hughes River. Never saw or used anything like it.
I have lures by Danczyk and Jed as well as others, and I am impressed by many of them.
Every lure or piece of wood is unique unto itself, and every one behaves differently. Tho we try to get them to all to be exact replicas of each other, they aren't, They are not cookiecutter lures. They aren't painted by a machine, or just a stencil taped on the wood, and the quality shows.
When I scroll through the pictures here or look at the websites that some guys have, it doesn't surprise me that almost all of the lures in my boxes, especially the gliders, all come from guys who are doing the work out of their homes. (I also have quite a collection of my 2nds).
I'm sure every basement baitmaker will tell you that it's not something that you are going to get rich doing. I know that nearly all the funds coming in here go right back into paint, primer, thinner, hardware, top coat, blanks....etc. Just like Grandmas home cooking, this is more of a labor of love.
I say "Bravo" to the paint jobs and time-consuming heavy top coats that are being used. Because those lures will not only catch fish, they'll be around and still looking good for our kids to use them.
I lost all of my pictures when my computer went belly up, so all that I can add right now is comentary. Soon I will have time to post some finished products.
I'm heading out to the shed right now to finish sand 150 weighted blanks.
Then I have to get to work on 300 more from step one........it's a never-ending process, but when I set the hooks into a fish with one that I 'rolled myself", or when I get a picture or read kind words from people like Yeti, it makes all the work seem like nothing.
Bravo to the "Basement Baitmaker".
No matter how many, or what style you make, we all have something unique to offer.
Beav

Thanks guys, and right back at ya danczyk, I've seen your baits before on ebay and thought they were pretty cool. I just found this forum yesterday (don't know how I missed it), and it's neat to find a place where others who make baits can share ideas or their work.

The lures were fun to make and they actually work pretty well too which was surprising considering that they were my first go round at making muskie lures with the exception of one lure that had I made a long time ago. I had made bass plugs before, but not muskie lures, and, actually, I had only been muskie fishing one time when I made these. (The cool lures are part of what drew me to the sport of muskie fishing.) They didn't take me too long to make either, maybe five days to make these and ten or so other muskie lures, as well as about forty bass plugs (which go pretty quick), and a couple more of the baby birds. I had graduated from college and was looking for a job without much luck about let's see...three years ago. I was getting frustrated and stressed out because at the time there was a shortage of jobs around. So I and finally started doing something to keep myself occupied. I ended up just sitting down one day with a bunch of wood pieces that I drew basic plans on and started jigging the basic shapes and dremelling the curves and details into them. Then I primed them, and air brushed in the basic color scheme on each lure. Then I hung them all from string on two two by fours stretched across the room and I sat in the middle and just painted each one down the line. I would paint all the lures that needed green, then I would go and paint all the lures that needed purple, etc. Just kinda playin with what looked or felt cool, and by the time one color was done, then the others were dry and ready to have another color of paint applied. Lures like the bluegill took the longest obviously as I hand painted it to make it look more textured, but it took less than a week to carve, paint, coat, outfit, and put hooks on all of them. Once I took them out to see how they work I was pleasantly surprised in most cases. Some of the lures did need modifications, like the herring bait, which now has a bent metal tail on the end and is one of the wildest topwater lures I've seen with the tail end kicking back and forth about ninety degrees. Had it hit three times this year, but not one hooked up well. The bluegill bait, unfortunately, didn't have enough weight in it as a result of a bad guestimation, but when I taped weight on the bottom it worked really well as a wake bait. But I can't bring myself to cut into that one to put more weight in permanently, lol, and, like I said, I've been meaning to make more like it. The bird lure isn't actually a muskie lure either, more of a big bass lure, although i plan on making a bigger and more durable version of that as well for muskies. It works phenomonally for bass, the first time out in a pond it caught a number of three to five plus pound bass. The birds head twitches back and forth on the water and the body kinda walks the dog, but really amazingly real action. Big bucket mouths dont' slam it, even with it being as big as it is, they just suck it down. Need to make a muskie version for sure. Of course the feathers wear away and fall off the bait after 15-20 bass or so. But I just refeather it again, and it's good as new. The next bait will be robin sized rather than sparrow sized. The baby muskie works really well as a jerk bait, that for some reason keeps catching bass instead of muskie darnit, and the bass bait is a good shallow jerk/diver, kind of like an ernie. Anyway, (try to wrap it up, toad) I stopped bass fishing and started muskie fishing seriously last fall, and fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) I finally got a good job, so there isn't very much time to make lures anymore it seems. I promised myself i would make the time, this year, but the muskies are already calling me back.....

Toadily enchanted by the fish voices in my head,
Toad
