Very nice fish for sure and looks all of 54 x 24.

The girth looks bigger because of the fish pushed up agains the person which pushes the girth out. This is just plain and simple a great picture of a happy man and his huge fish.

Congrats, and keep the picture comming for all to see.

AWSOME FISH.........HRJonny........YOU-DA-MAN

Thanks everyone... this fish was truly 54x24...

It is so different when you are actually holding the fish.. but that is what a true 24" girth looks like...

How can you argue with 40+ pounds? No sense stretching that...

AWESOME....

I think the bait was a wish...something or other...all I know is the bait is bigger then 1/6th of all dog breeds in America.

Congrats HR...

Dang, and here I thought of those as 'novelty' baits, wow. I'm guessing that's a trolling bait, I don't think I could get it up over my head to cast it. Very very nice, and a great release shot, too! m

HR,

I admire your determination. I think you and Paul Hartman in the latest issue of EA have pursuaded me to really become a believer in the big bait-big fish theory, especially on Canadian trips.

With a bait that size, what is your trolling setup?

NICE FISH

Last week on LOTW The Dude had a 48 incher hit a 30 inch northern at boatside, are our baits too small??

Esox Fitty, It is tough mentally running huge lures all the time as you hardly ever contact fish... but when the rod goes off and you are pulling an 18" bait... there is a good chance you'll be into something special, especially on trophy water. I use a 7' Saltwater St.Croix rod with a Penn 321 reel, 150 lb Power Pro with a 5ft 300 lb single strand leader with Aussie Locks.

Do you want to pay $300.00 for a bait?
