Posts: 32922 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Things are heating up here. Literally! Temps are to be record highs this weekend, and the water is warming up as a result. Sue and I moved 9 muskies today after fishing bass until 3 PM, and got one 45 on a Wabull. The Pike and bass were willing, as were the incedental walleyes. Dinner was walleye fillets and Mac and Cheese. Yummy.... All in all, it was a great day! Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]() ![]()

Posts: 32922 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Another great day on the Goon, with multiple big pike and a total of 4 muskies in camp. The Pepto Castor was HOT on the big Pike this afternoon ( Sue and I got out on the water at noon, no hurry when the sun sets completly at 10:30) and a Violent Strike spinnerbait scored me a very nice Muskie. We fished with Merv tonight, he had his rig out of the water ready to leave tomorrow. He jumped in the rig with Sue and I and scored several nice pike and rolled a nice muskie all on a Black/Pink Violent Strike Magnum. Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | What an incredible body of water Wabigoon is, (inspite of a token nay-sayer) with true trophy potential for most all species that we fish for! It would be a short list of accessible lakes that can match it! Steve W., what was the final tallies of your week?

Posts: 80 Location: Northwoods | Way to go Drew!! After an exciting day at work (not) spent 2.5 hours "playing" in the large tank in our fish room, but tomorrow muskie league. . . always a little light at the end of a boring day (or two). ![]() Get out there and catch some more, have "Dad" photo it and you vice versa...then I'll browse them later tomorrow night or Weds a.m. Nikki, I'm waiting to see a pic of you and a beast?!?Have fun! Posts: 32922 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | SVL, Final tally for our week was 17 muskies in camp up to 47", 2 pike over 40", and Sue's personal best 'eye. We had a great time! I got two good muskies ( pictures above) and lost a few more in that class. A 54 was caught Sunday out of another camp by the Microwave tower. We caught LOTS of walleyes and bass, and had several great fish dinners!

Posts: 1916 Location: Greenfield, WI | Thanks for the report Steve. They must be using metric time in Canada, eh?, because there only seems to be 15 minutes per hour as it goes by so fast! I can't wait to get back up on the 'Goon!

Posts: 32922 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Baldy got a 44, tommyv got a 36, I got 2 low 40's and a 42" pike, Slamr got a 35 and 40" pike (Nikki, Slamr, and I got out this evening, moved 7 muskies in one small area including a supertanker, got the 42 and the Pike) and there were several other fish caught I don't have here yet. Hopefully, this is an omen for the rest of the trip, the fish were on during the afternoon and evening. Jack and I got a limit of 'eyes this morning from 16 to 20", had a great time. Posts: 56 | Norm, There were times last night on Pelican I could have used a welder's helmet. Wow.. It was brutal for sure. But I agree with the visor comment. Visors are only appropriate when playing golf, going to flea markets or watching parades. ![]() Steve

Posts: 59 Location: St. Cloud, MN | Great to see you guys are catching some fish. What are the water temps and are you guys seeing them in the usual places with the usual things like last year? Going up next week and am curious. By the way I see nothing wrong with a visor. It's hard to find a hat that fits. Are you keeping track of everything this year(hats, cigs, etc.) slamr not having Jonesi mark your map are ya. Q

Posts: 32922 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Tommyv got a 36 today. In the unreal windless record heat here it was a NASTY day on the water. 100 degrees onshore, and high 90's on the water. There were some very nice fish moved, but no one scored a piggy. I had a dandy miss a Wabull and had a great time with two outstanding boat partners, despite the heat we caught a few nice Pike and moved two big girls, and Slamr moved the HOG he saw last night; she went around two times on an eight before cruising off. Indian Point Camp provided us with a welcome respite from the heat at the Wednesday Fish Fry. We all ate very well and drank a fair bit of free beer, pluse we each got an Indian Point MuskieFIRST hat and some pretty cool door prizes. I got a coffee cup because darrel already got the massive Blue can of suds. The folks at Indian Point Camp really know how to make a guest feel welcome!!

Location: The Yahara Chain | Steve and crew, what is the biggest fish scene so far? I am planning a family trip to Canada next year and I thought I was going to LOTW but I am considering the Gooooooon. The shallow water fishing intrigues me(and the bonus big Pike). Are you guys traveling very far from the camp? Anybody take on any "oozing boat sores"? Would a group of first timers be able to navigate the waters safely? Sounds like you guys are having a great time. I am so jealous. ![]()

Posts: 32922 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The biggest for me has been 47 this trip, but we are working some hawgs. The Goon has been stingy in this heat and wind, hopefully this will give us a break this evening and tomorrow; there is a front coming in. The lake isn't hard to navigate, so no big deal there. Most of the fish have been in 5' and Under, with the muskies coming out of about 3'.
