| Hey there, I've now heard a couple different people commenting about a lure called a weagle. What's a weagle? What kinda bait is it? Topwater? Spinner?? Rubber??? Thanks for the help. Kat | |||

Posts: 32958 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | It's a topwater, and the fish on Wabigoon love the thing. Here it is ready to go. Attachments ---------------- IMAG0023.JPG (82KB - 125 downloads)

Location: Illinois-Indiana | The Weagle is just the BEST walk the dog style top water that I have ever used. I was a huge fan of the jackpot and would throw it all day long, now I have a new favorite lure. The Weagle is bigger and heavier and it sits a little deeper in the water which allows it to throw more water and create more surface disturbance. It also has three hooks instead of two which raises your hooking percentages. Every tackle box should have one or maybe even two!!!

| Don't get your hopes up for getting one this year unless you're "in the circle". | |||

Posts: 156 Location: Oconomowoc, WI | Seriously, Is there a way to get one soon? A jackpot recently found it's way out of my box and didn't return. I'd love to replace it with a Weagle before my summer trip in two weeks.

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | Kevin, I know they are working on getting things all set up for some increased production, but they are making sure that the final bait is excellent. Check out the Musky Nut website, you can drop Cady a line, and get on the waiting list for some baits. Other than that, you would have to find someone willing to part with their bait. www.muskynut.com

Posts: 7123 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I just spoke with Steve Jonesi, who is collaborating with Steve Cady for the future direction of Musky Nut Tackle. The reality on the Weagul is this: 6-8 weeks until it goes into full production. The limited amount of baits available are being given out to the public for testing and field trial purposes. Thus far the response has been positive, as many have stated on this board in commments over the last few months. However, as is the case in any product development scenario, there are a number of issues/kinks that need to be worked out with the baits, the painting processes, etc. before it is to the standard that Musky Nut Tackle is going to uphold with all their products. To be considered overall is that Musky Nut Tackle is committed to putting out to the Muskie fishing public a reliable, consistent product that helps to put fish in the boat. There is no select "inner circle" that has exclusionary rights to using it; on the contrary, Musky Nut wants to be selling as many baits as possible, but will only do so when the best possible product is available to the public. My take on the lure itself: a large jackpot style bait, that pushes more water, and can still be worked ina number of different ways: slowly slithering, quick pops to spray water about, and even as a subsurface jerk when the slack line is out of the retrieve. Because of its large size and weight, it can be cast a long distance, and is easy on the retrieve. I've thrown my all black weagull (and no, you dont want this one, there is no clear coat: as I said, production issues being hammered out, the public will be buying perfectly finished lures) for 2 days, with 3 strikes, one 26" pike in the boat, but no muskies in the net. I forgot to sharpen the hooks, yes, that was not the smartest thing to do with a side to side topwater lure. This bait is NOT the magic bullet for muskies, but will be a positive contributor in your arsenal. I hope this helps clarify a few things.

Posts: 364 Location: in the white boat | It's no mystery that the people who sign on anonymously and sign their posts "guest" are the ones always stirring the pot. As far as the availability of the Weagle, Slamr has cleared it up for us. The concept of the "inner circle" is absolute bunk. If there was a circle surrounding the Shady one, I would probably not be bragging about being in it

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | It's not a Jackpot that's for sure. This spring PK was fishing with then MY Weagle in the back of the boat and had a 3 fish day. After the 2nd fish I started fishing a Jackpot in front of him and didn't get a look. He got another one fishing my dirty water where I was using a jackpot. I think where it really shines over the Jackpot is when fishing open/deeper water. It moves a lot more water and it has a larger profile then a Jackpot. Also, the 3rd hook helps pin the fish since the fish are usually moving faster and from a further distance. It's not a silver bullit, but it's different enough from what the fish have seen to be very effective. Edited by Muskie Treats 7/8/2004 4:02 PM

Posts: 149 | I have a few questions about this... What's the retail price on these gonna be? Inner circle price? (I couldn't resist) Is there somewhere to pre-order? Will paint schemes be the same as the Wabulls? Edited by twitcher 7/8/2004 4:52 PM
