Posts: 1137 Location: Holly, MI | This winter promises to be a loong coold one. Stay indoors and putz with your musky gear. Better yet..Make some yourself! Here are a few that I have whipped up. I used cedar (what I had lying around)and both spray bomb enamel on some and brushed on acrylic on others. A couple have epoxy finish, others only have clear enamel so far but will get epoxy. The Yellow crank is glow paint. The black glider is weighted with lead and will barely float, I assume splitrings and hooks will make it a slow sinker. The tiny (3 inch) sunfish might be a toy. I hope they will swim, no testing yet. I'm waiting on mail from rollies with split rings, hooks, and stainless screw eyes. Come on you guys, lets see some of those home made musky lures. Posts: 480 | Hey Topwater, beautiful work! Are those the actual sizes? I've been looking and asking around about creeper hardware, do you make your own, or do you have a suppiler? I'm interested in buying some, please email me if you or anyone has a source. A machinist I talked to can stamp out parts, but he has to make a die and it costs $$. I'll do it if I can recoup my investment. I want to make one of a kind, high quality baits. I'll trade services too. I make furniture so I can custom turn any blank you have in mind. Nice composition on the photos as well. capt bigfish

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | topwater. That Fetch and Catch looks really familiar. Is that the one that I ordered and is now hanging in my basement. Now that i think of it, maybe I should not use it. As you become famous, that thing is going to bring a fortune!!!! Those are some awesome lures, and they are built tough. Can't wait till I get my other ones from you!!
BTW, did you get my most recent email regarding the hooks? My email has been acting up and returning stuff, so I'm not sure if everything I sent gets out. Jason Schillinger

Posts: 1137 Location: Holly, MI | OK.. I gave an attempt at an Upside Down paint job. It is a heavily weighted glider (barely floats), should be a slow sinker with split rings and hooks. I'm thinking about the shrink tube for the back hook to keep it straight out. I also added a couple of rattles to try them out. Hi divani. The little one is 9cm. I have no idea about its action yet. It is still waiting for an epoxy coat and the lakes are all frozen. Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 60 Location: Germantown,wi | Thanks for all the great comments. I make all the hardware for my baits, couldn't find it anywhere so I had no choice. Jason, got your email. My computer got some virus and finally got it fixed, didn't want to take a chance and send it to anyone else.

Posts: 17 Location: mn | Hi everyone I am getting into muskie fishing and want to make my own lures.I have taken some information off the internet which is useful, however, I would like suggested books, magazines, etc from anyone here. Man, with some lures selling $25-30/lure makes me wonder which is being caught the fish or the fisherman. If I can post links here and if people want I'll post them from my search. By the way - you guys are making some real nice lures. Thanks - FB

Posts: 1185 Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | If anybody who makes basement baits wants me to put a page up on my basement baits page, please e-mail me at [email protected]. Include jpg pictures of your stuf if you have them. Black background looks the best. Check out what I have so far by clincking the link below. I have a few more to put up. It's just that I haven't had time to work on the site yet this off season, but watch out when I do cause I have DSL now.

Posts: 1137 Location: Holly, MI | Nice offer Jomusky, but did you mean just send you pics for display? Aren't the baits on your site all for sale? I have looked at them all, some nice stuff available. Ok, I promise not to post any more new home made baits after this last pic. The walleye is supposed to be a troller but might be ok for shallow crankin' or twitchin'. The Jitterbug type was only because I couldn't not order one of the lips when I was getting the other components. Attachments ---------------- ![]()

I havent really had much spare time the last couple of weeks to make anything new, but I'm heading home this weekend to pick up some more stuff and make some blanks that I can hopefully work on at school. I have been working on a sunfish/crappie lure for a bit, as well as some shads, and wiley type lures. Haven't really got a good crappie pattern figured out yet. The pick is of the sunfish type lures. Also was working on similar ones that were straight, and some that are deep divers, and some that are smaller. Attachments ---------------- ![]()

Posts: 1185 Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | The pics on the basement bait pages are just some examples of the builders work. I don't actually sell any of the baits, it just lists how to contact the builder to order them. I do, however, sell Jomusky Weight Sets for $5 each and there is a page for them there as well. So if you would like me to put up a page for you, please feel free to contact me.
