Posts: 1939 Location: Black Creek, WI | Well, the season is winding down for many of us. Still may be a few last minute opportunities.... but I think its time to start looking ahead at the long winter months and figuring out how we will survive. I haven't heard much chatter or gossip about potential new lures or products that will be available at the shows. I'm not sure about you guys, but the NEW stuff is what makes the shows all that much more exciting. Sure, the custom show colors and getting to talk first hand with the manufacturers is fun... but I really look forward to the NEW stuff. Anyone willing to "let the cat out of the bag" early? Sure would help me establish a reasonable BUDGET. If there is going to be a Super Six Bladed Topraider at the shows retailing for $74.99... I'd sure like to know in advance (ha ha). jlong

Posts: 358 | Your right "J" about starting the budget early. This is the first year I will be participating as an exhibitor at the shows, so that in itself is something to chase away the winter dulldrums for me. Chicagoland muskie nuts will have another to show to attend this year however. I believe it is in March at the Odeum in Villa Park. Sounds like it should be fun. Full concessions, muskie tank, and lots of the standard names in the industry. Since I will be working the other shows, the one in March will be my time to just walk around and enjoy it.

Minnkota is coming out with a 74 lb Auto Pilot/PD Im waiting and waiting and waiting for Musky Mainia to come out with a jointed Ernie! Cmon Pete, hurry it up! Maybe 2004????

Posts: 3242 Location: Racine, Wi | 52, there is already a 6" jointed ernie. There isn't a 9"er yet, but I recall seeing a 6" Jointed. I could be wrong, but I think BPS has them. Anyone else see them, or am I still nuts?

Posts: 1939 Location: Black Creek, WI | Geez Roger... forgive me. I forgot about your AWESOME lures. Probably overlooked them since I can get them at any time (heh heh). Those that don't know... Roger's new Nitro is a SWEEEET glide bait. Walks real easy and has some killer belly roll/flash. The rat is a neat Topwater with a big profile. Similar to a Snodlo on steroids... yet unique in that it has a lip to make it swim and the trailer blade is positioned differently. Very innovative.

Posts: 1189 Location: Bagley,MN 56621 | yes Roger Watters baits are very good baits. I fished with Roger for a whole week on LOTW in July and saw them first hand...think that's the week the Nitro got named too. The x-glide/nitro and ratt all moved some very nice fish. I havent thrown these baits as much as I should have, since the MF trip I have been on a crankbait/squirko/topraider kick but will get much more water time when it thaws again. I like the body style of the Nitro, it can glide as easy and smooth as a phantom, but yet go nutz like an undertaker when twitched erratic. With the body narrowing up I think it's going to be a good hooking bait as well...not as much "wood" in the mid-section as some when it gets t-boned.

Posts: 20281 Location: oswego, il | I popped a fish on "da ratt" my first time using it. It's a really wild looking bait and it drives the muskies crazy.

Posts: 1185 Location: Wishin I Was Fishin' | Roger, You will have a both at the New London Musky Magic show right? That would be a great place for everyone to see the H2O Tackle line up in the pool. You should see the 10" Nitro, I have one of 2 in existance. All I can say is WOW! The show is March 21. MARK YOUR CALENDERS!!! Save your coin. Edited by Jomusky 11/21/2003 8:52 AM

Posts: 1245 Location: Madtown, WI | You know I like seeing videos of these new baits. SOOOOO many jerkbaits out there that if I saw the action I like I would buy. Would be cool to see a video of an underwater shot of a bait doing the side to side...showing the flash and the wobble...I would buy!!! Good marketing ploy! I know Jason you were involved with the DDD video and it really helped sell cranks...because it SHOWED the baits were different then any other crank... food for thought. Cory

Posts: 827 Location: Minneapolis,Minnesota | CP, You should watch Bob M's show, he always has a underwater camera follow the bait in at least once to show the action from a fish's perspective. Kinda neat to see, I know I went out and bought a Manta after seeing the underwater camera view of it. Still haven't hooked up on that dam thing!

Location: Woodstock, IL | I believe that Garcia is coming out with a 6500 C3 with a thumbar. In addition, Minn Kota is coming out with a new electric anchor (DH-40) that won't bounce around as much as the current models.

Posts: 358 Location: London, England | There's a new ABU 7001 HS which has just come out. It's a left hand retrieve version of the high speed 7500 and is a very purty gold colour! 5.3:1 retrieve speed, big capacity so the line level doesn't even think of dropping even on a long cast! Bucktail and jerkbait heaven!!

Posts: 93 Location: Waukesha, WI. | I am new at making musky lures. I hope to be at the New London show. All of my baits are hand made and tested. I make a frog bait that is vary cool, I got a 46"er on this one this year, biggest to date for me. A howg wobbler type bait (THE MUSKY SUCKER) you can real this bait as fast or slow as you need it, it is loud at all speeds. I am hoping to use the pool there so you all can see them in action!! I have not got the info in the mail for this show yet but hope to get it soon so I can get a table. I take my lure to all the collecter shows right now (can't put out the $$ for the big shows) so I will be at the Milwaukee NFCC show Jan. 30-31 hope to meet you all somewhere this year Look for Ev's musky lures and say hi. I know Greg Nimmer from Nimmer Swimmer musky lures and he has some new stuff. He is going to be at Cho. and Mil. musky shows and New London. All I can say is stop by his booth and get a eye full of all the color.

Posts: 642 Location: mount prospect illinois | ToddM: I didnt know that. I wonder why they havent really marketed them that much? If Dpratt is correct, they may have revamped them or be re- marketing them. I will have to take a look. After trying one of the newer Maina baitcasters though, it may be a hard sell. The latest Maina (i think its the salterwater version in gold) is very smooth and does not have any of the earlier "glitches". Kinda nice to see moderately priced/smoother/more durable reels with thumbars comign around.
