Posts: 257 Location: Madison, WI | I haven't been a super regular attendee at the Milwaukee Show, but I think I may have attended 2 out of the past 3 years. If I remember correctly, I think I attended a lure swap (which generally occurs on Saturday night) at the Radisson Hotel in Menomonee Falls. (I think I did that at least once in the past couple years). If I remember correctly, it was the Radisson located at: N88 W14750 Main St. Menonomonee Falls, WI 53051. Having said that, I have not heard a thing regarding THIS YEAR. So I have no idea whether or not they have a swap meet planned for this year, and if so, if it will be at the same location???? Sorry I can't be of more help. If anybody knows anything, please post it here, because I have always considered the swap meet to be one of the more enjoyable parts of attending the show. Posts: 257 Location: Madison, WI | 'Twas the week before Milwaukee and all through this thread No announcement was stirring as nothing was said; The old bucktails were hung in my bucket of foam, In hopes that a buyer would provide a new home. The Odyssey Pigs were nestled all snug in a pail. Those baits once held promise, who knew that they’d fail? Here’s an old Dunwright swimbait, the color is sucker Here’s hoping’ I encounter some naïve mother &^%*#er. Here’s 3 firetiger gliders that have never been wet. Taking up space, I’ve got buyer’s regret. Some cowgirl knockoff with 26 blades. A custom painted Buchertail Bigfoot in pink lemonade Various soft plastic creatures held together with glue I better get there real early, I’ll need a table or two. Too many lures, they’ve all got to go What was I thinking when I shelled out the dough? I fell in love with the shine and the flashabou glitter. I bought them on Facebook, I bought them on Twitter. I saw Gander Outdoors was running a sale. I bought every Inhaler X-factor that would fit in my pail. I’d have enough money to open three banks, If I’d never encountered the Shimano Tranx. I’m cleaning my basement as I prep for the sale, Oh, look! There’s 12 Mantas in a 6-gallon pale. I’m thinking it’s time to make a confession And admit I’ve got problems with my esox obsession. But what to my wondering eyes should appear. The Musky Shop catalog that was brand new last year. “It can’t hurt to peek,” I say to myself. “I need some new Suicks, I’ll make some space on that shelf.” The visions of dollar signs flash in my head. I’ll sell this never-used grandma in chartreuse wonderbread. On Bobbie! on Reef Hawg! On saltwater crank! Time to go to the swap meet and make me some bank. There may be a food drive, time to clean out the kitchen. Here’s a jar of Ragu and a pile of canned chicken. I’ve got a can of crushed pineapple and a half crate of tuna. A box of pop tarts and a Daiwa Luna. If you need some canned pasta I’ve got Spaghettios So please post swap meet info if anyone knows. Thanks! “Jackpot” John Schroeder

If someone wants to run a totally independent swap, that's fine too but the facility and promotion, etc is on that person's plate. Hope this helps! Steve, If some of us want to organize this, is there somebody that you could refer us to? Do you know who organized this in the past that could give us some pointers? Was it Slamr, maybe? (I seem to recall that he did some organizing of the Chicago swap meet, if my memory serves me correctly. And I think there was always some sort of a canned food drive associated with it, if I recall. And a donated can of food was worth a raffle ticket, with lure manufacturers making donations for the raffle drawing - at least that's how it worked in Chicago many years ago, if I remember correctly. Note: I haven't been to the Chicago show in quite a few years, so I don't know if it still works that way, or if I'm remembering it correctly). Milwaukee may have been a bit different if I recall. I think I went to the lure swap 2 years ago at the Radisson, and I don't recall whether or not there was a food drive. I'd be happy to put something together, and make some phone calls, etc. But I don't even know the protocol for how these things are done. For example, is there a typical fee that is charged by the Hotel, for the rental of the room? Or is the room provided at no charge (or greatly discounted), in the hopes that they will be making their money based on beer and food sales at the bar? I would also imagine that it would be helpful to network with some of the lure manufacturers / rod manufacturers if raffle drawings would be involved. And the manufacturers / exhibitors might be incentivized to participate, simply because it may provide the opportunity for increased exposure and / or goodwill. But I've never organized a lure swap, so I don't exactly know where to begin. If you could refer me to someone who might be able to shorten the learning curve, I wouldn't mind making some phone calls to help put this together. (even though it's probably a bit late to try to do it for 2019). Or if anybody else has any info that may be helpful, please feel free to post here or to private message me. Thanks! Posts: 7039 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | I run the Chicago Swap and have for the last 78 years. We started as 10 of my friends inviting other friends to hang out at a local bar and trade and buy/sell lures. As the group grew, we found bigger and bigger venues to use. We have always been lucky and able to find locations (corner of a bar, then a room in a bar, then a banquet hall in a bowling hall) that we did not have to pay for until fortune smiled and the organizers of the Chicago Expo was gracious enough to secure a room at Pheasant Run where the Expo is held. My suggestion: call around, see if you can get a space at a bar or wherever for free. Might be a bit late to get organized in 3 days but maybe a good way to secure a location for the future. Then when you find a place, post it here, post it on facebook, go to local clubs and tell them about the event, tell your friends and neighbors and enemies to get the word out. As for a raffle and food/clothing/cash drive for charity, good luck!

If no one else does, there's nothing for us to report, and this thread has been here for a while. Shep started it independently years ago, and a couple clubs have taken a swing at it as well as a fund raiser for a Veterans group. A club was involved the last few years, and the gentleman who was running the swap sadly passed away. Not real sure who ran it last year.

Posts: 2269 Location: SE, WI. | 2 of the best Muskie clubs in SE, WI. Are already talking about a lure swap Next show season. It's great that 2 clubs work together for the common good stocking Fish, and having socials like the lure swaps. Clubs will look for a Venue that is feasible/ workable for us all. They are also mumbling something about having a local swap this March!!! Hopefully there is a good turnout if it happens...full participation is important to keep these going!
