Posts: 3157 | Swimming dawg flexes all the way to the head also more important is the hook placement the dawg has one right at the very front where most fish target.

Posts: 200 | Does the paddle tail have some thump? Can it be worked at slower speeds as well as faster speeds? I have some shadzilla jrs and they don’t have much action unless you are burning them pretty fast.

Posts: 528 | I like the thump and roll of the Poseidon better than that of the swimming dawg. I haven’t caught a fish on either yet, but have caught fish on the shadzilla...

Location: Eagle Lake Vermilion Bay, Ontario | both excellent baits, both swimbaits but diff. if i had to characterize i will say the swimming dog's strength is at a bit slower to med speeds, and maintains paddle good on a drop or yo yo/jerk type of retrieve posiden's strength is at a speedier retrieve especially straight retrieves... both catch fish steve herbeck

Posts: 1023 | 1. Shadzilla 2. Poseidon 3 Dawg I make my own paddletail bait and I have spent a lot of time studying and comparing designs, including European Baits. Shadzilla has BY FAR the best action at a variety of speeds. The reg sized one is best. The jr and mag size don’t have as much action but are still very good baits.

Posts: 1751 Location: Mt. Zion, IL | I have caught as many fish on Poseidon baits as Shadzillas. What I like about the Poseidon is that it is able to be repaired much easier than a shadzilla. The plastic is so much easier to melt it back on the Poseidon. I fish the swimmin' dawg a lot less because of how often it fouls.

Posts: 264 | Kanalgratis website has some paddle tail style baits you don't see in the states for the most part. I have some of their Flat Nose Shad and Pig Shad (Yes it looks like the Odyssey Pig jerk bait)soft baits that I have used for big pike in the NWT with great success. They have great action. Their stuff in general is not cheap but I bought during a sale and did OK that way. In any case it is worth checking the site to see some different kinds of paddle tail baits you won't see most places. Lots of great video as well through their YouTube channel. www.kanalgratis.se

Posts: 1023 | Thanks supertroller^^^^^ I appreciate that. I am getting lots of great fish story emails on my Rover Baits paddletails from customers lately. I just gotta start fishing more and making baits less.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | IMO the Poseidon and then check out the Shadillac too. Those look sick in the water! MI Swimming Dawg is not bad either, I just feel the other two baits have a lot better action for these two brands side by side.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WklEBzHnrN8 James

Posts: 63 | I've caught fish on both and lost fish. Both lures seem to have less hooking potential than non-paddle plastics. The hooks on the Poseidon are too light for my taste so I always change them. The Poseidon has a wider belly so it doesn't dive nose down so fast. The Swimmin Dawg, gets nice action at slow speeds but they can be hard to dial in, can start to run to one side and are weed magnets. All in all though, I've landed more fish with Swimmin Dawgs than Poseidons. I've not fished shadzillas 1/10 as much as the other 2 and thus haven't caught fish on them ![]() Bottom line - looks like paddle tails are pretty awesome Esox appetizers. -10,001

Posts: 962 | I like the Swimmin Dawg best. I have one that has 14 musky on it and several with 6-8 fish, so they seem pretty durable to me. Have caught fish on fast and slow speeds with it also. Make sure you put a splitring on the front of them seems to give more wobble especially on the smaller size one. I also use a Stealth Tackle 174# straight wire leader with a welded ring and no snap-that helps to. Jeff Hanson madisonmuskyguide.com

Posts: 983 | I think swimming dog has best subtle roll. The possidion thumps side to side harder than swimming dog but the dawg has more gentle belly roll. THe shadzilla just swims so true and has hard tail thump that I like. If I am burning def go shadzilla if I am working slower I will use one of the others. I will troll possidion on occasion it seems to stay down the best in that situation so I think they all have their place
