just wanted to note to all the cool kids upstairs that the basement crew is on the cusp of page 500 in our NFL thread. downstairs, away from the parents there exists a group of men (we ran off the one woman who showed up to fight for her man) willing to attack subjects like football, religion, politics and sometimes even those upstairs ...

anyway, i thought it would be notable and worth sharing that a collective group of people pretty much un moderated are capable of disagreeing, arguing, agreeing and sometimes even showing compassion without having a thread shut down or go so far south that it becomes out of control ...

thanks to all the guys who've contributed, visited and stuck together.

we do a few fun things each year including:
NFL Weekly Pick-Em
NCAA Basketball Tournament Bracket
Masters Golf Tournament Contest
U.S. Open Golf Tournament Contest

where the winner gets a musky bait from those participating so it's pretty fun and lucrative. we've only had one time when a participant stiffed the winner (you would have to be a frequent visitor to know who the delinquent is but wow would that be a great secret question to get especially the long-time board people to research and try to find out!!).

so, anyway ... thought about having a contest for who lands on the first post on page 500 but just going to do this instead to recognize this feat.

not recruiting but take a minute and stop by sometime, but if you're a clown stay upstairs ...

also, take a minute to remember one of our favorites at both being a great guy and a complete pain in the butt, MuskyHopeful ... Kevin Dunn. don't forget about him, wish he were still with us to inspire our pizza thread with his talents. I'm sure Gracie is still playing close to par ... we miss him.

It's a fun place but don't lead with your chin(think before you post) or as LFA MMA announcer Micheal Shiavello said, you will go stiffer than a honeymooners dick.

The NHL pool was really fun! That is, once the official bracket challenge site decided to cooperate... it still burns that me, the Pittsburgh guy, didn't have faith in his hometown team and it cost me wimning the pool! The basement is a blast!!! I'm am excited to see what the NFL pools are all about.

Tread lightly he who dares to venture to the basement. I go in powerless with only wit and thoughtfulness to defend myself.

And don't be a dumbass down there. You will get eaten alive.

OK - how do you get to the basement? I've never been there. Seems like a fun place.

Is it a link? Another forum?

note in the opening statement "not recruiting" and please continue to read the complete sentence before venturing down.

as stated previously, we are in need of a couple passionate UW (not to be confused with National Champion and potential contending UW from the West Coast) Football Fans for the fall season to replace those who ran off and maybe a know-it-all Spartan fan, but otherwise proceed with caution ... drive by's without staying power will be sent back upstairs.
