I tried to convince myself I didn't care how big this fish is but I cant get it out of my head. This is my largest fish to date and did not recover well and so I decided to focus on getting her back and swimming and never measured. I landed a 47 and a high 48 later that looked mini compared to this. What are your thoughts? Ive been refering to her as a high 49 (the rarest of all muskies) as I have no bump board pic.

Really big. Cool of you to focus on the release more than the measure on that one.

first off, I am no expert, by a long shot. Second I'm not trying to be that guy! Looking at that fish and taking into consideration you're 5'8" I'd put that as an upper 40's st clair fish. I've been fortunate enough to catch several upper 40's fish on that lake and I've netter several low 50's, a couple 53's and a 55" on that body of water. (I fished with Hulbert for 3 days the past three Julys, highly recommend him by the way!). Mike only wants me to net fish for him if they are over 50" otherwise he releases them boatside without netting them. The easiest way to tell if a fish is over 50 on that body of water especially is if they have a giant melon for a head! I'll post a pic of two upper 40's I caught, a 51.75" my brother caught (he's 6'4" and weighs about 215lbs) for comparison.

All that considered, it's different fish, held by different people at different angles...so there is no real science to my conclusion just one guys opinion. Either way congrats on your PB, its a great fish!

if you can post a pick of the 47" and upper 48", that will be a better way to compare the 3rd fish...

To me looks like if you rotated fish vertical to him it would go from his head to about bottom of his Knee cap...Hes 68 inches himself..I figure 15-17 inches from bottom knee to floor...so around 52inchs Id guess buy looking at him and fish...looks like if rotated it would line up with his head about perfect
@bbeau what you measure from your knee cap to the floor??

Here are pics of the 47 and mid 48.
But to be honest I'm convinced, subtract one comment, that Ive joined the club. I will catch a bigger one soon and this one will be irrelevant....or it will take another 15 years...either way its all good.

My immediate guess was 51". Feel confident in saying 50+ and I would think it safe to consider yourself in the 50 club for sure. Nice fish and congrats on a great day on the water!

don't let my opinion sway ya either way, just giving my honest opinion is all. You know having held all three in the same day if one is 2-3 inches longer than one you just caught. that is one heck of an afternoon no matter the "club" number or not. I must be blind though because the first pic you posted and the last pic you posted appear to be very similar to my eyes...although everyone else including larry himself call it bigger so if I were a betting man I'd be putting my money on his/theirs/and your opinion.

I would guess between 50 and 52. Your in the 50 plus club for sure.
Great to see someone care about a fish more than a number. Congrats on both.
