Location: Apparently where the Muskie aren't | This question is for all you brave souls that cast the 2 pounder bulldawg. What beast of a rod are you guys slinging these semi truck tires with? I'm wanting to get a rod to throw these 2 pounders and pounders with, I know it's going to be impossible to throw these for more than 2 hours but I think it could be affective. Thanks! |

Location: Land of the Musky | Here you go. TI XXXH. Tested at 5F temps with 40lbs of weight bouncing up and down on a fork truck blade and then threw a 2lb dawg for about 35 minutes until I was beat. We call it our "Bullshark" rod. Thats because guys us it for catching Bullsharks in Florida as well as 900lb alligators. Oh, it was made for musky fishing though....

Location: Apparently where the Muskie aren't | Thanks for the recommendation James I was just in the website looking at that one before I posted this. Have you personally used it? I've heard from other people it can actually be too heavy to load the rod with a 2 pounder. |

James not only has used it, but owns the company that manufacturers them.
So you can say he is biased, therefore, I will give you the unbiased recommendation as to what rod I used while I was casting 2 Pounders on Lake St. Clair. The TI XXXH. It was an excellent 2 Pounder rod. I also used the TI XXH, which can be done, but that XXXH really loaded well when slinging those 25oz. hunks of rubber. |

I guess me asking if he uses it was a kind way for me to get other unbiased reviews (: so anybody that has any experience with what rods to throw 2 pounders on let me know what you think, or if you have used the TI xxxhevy. Thanks!! |

No not really. Dawgs aren't exactly high resistance baits like bucktails. Maybe a little more so with a 2 pounder. Any reel with high retrieve rate. |

| Ive thrown a 2 pounder for about a dozen casts and been with guys that wanted to throw them as well, never seen a guy throw one for more than an hr :)... rate of diminishing return! I'll never throw a two pounder again no need (yes I know they catch fish muskies are stupid), throw a double dawg pounder if you want a crazy big profile... Late fall is about staying mentally focused... just my 2 cents get a combo that works pounders well... if you think you want to lob a 2 pounder out for 2 dozen casts that outfit will work for that.. ha! |

| The ti xxxh is an awsome rod for anything in between 20 and 30oz
I can do 2 handed casts at full power witout having to worry about the rod breacking.
The reel i use is a toro beast 61 btw |

Location: Minnesota | I use the Thorn Bros XXHEAVY Predator 9foot 8inch teamed with Tranx HG. I fish with it guide on vermillion a few years back he was tossing 2 pounders all day dident know how he did it ,I was beat after a full day of pounder . |

Location: Apparently where the Muskie aren't | Can somebody who has a 2 pounder and a regular pounder please post a pic of them together so I can see the size difference. I know that the 2 pounder is like 25 or 26 inches but I have yet to see one in person and I just want to see the overall size of the body and everything compared to the pounder. I'm going to be getting one or two, but not for a while because I don't have anything to throw them on yet. I'm just really impatient and want to see these to chunks of rubber next to each other. Thanks!! |

| I did change them to something beefeer.
I also cut off the top hook and use a stinger hook instead of the back hook, it helps keep the plastic out of the mouth of the fish after you hooked up |

| I just picked up a Thorne Bros Predator XH 9'6" for my dedicated pounder rod...cant wait to try this thing have never had a rod this long was gonna go with 9 but got talked into 9'6"...He says Ill never look back but longest rod I had until this was 8'1" so a good jump up here but cant wait to test.....trying to decide between reg beast 60 and 60hs on this rod...leaning toward slower 4.9 cause I have another Rod I use to use for Pounders with the Lexa HSP on so figured if I wanted to go HS then just switch to that rod if I put the beast 60hs on it feel like I will never use the other rod for hardly anything |

You are so lucky. Hope your shoulders are still treating you well when you're 30, 40, 60, 70 after hucking 2 pounders in your 20's.  |

Yes and no, my wrist does start to hurt first but that is from me having small hands and trying to palm my reels. From casting I seem to notice it more in my shoulder but not to much until the next day. |

Location: With my son on the water | I have been at it over 35 years and some of you guys know how I like to burn big blades.
In order typically you get
a torn rotator cuff,
torn bicep,
tennis elbow,
then tendonitis in the wrist.
ALL on the same arm and per a Physical Therapist I know they are all related so when one goes you can expect the next one to go soon. (Been there too)
The good news is all of this can be avoided with minimal stretching and weight training. I was almost down and out but have come back stronger than ever.
My advice is (if you feel pain, don't pound the pain meds) get on YouTube and figure out what exercises you need to do to solve the problem.
Winter is a great to time to get the body ready for the next season.

If you are less than 20yo, keep yourself in shape and casting 2 pounders and mammoth sues wont be a probleme,
