Posts: 7039 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Since it's colder than Siberia in summer here in the fishing mecca that is the Chicagoland area and there's no need to ask where everyone is fishing this weekend (ice fishing doesnt count because it's just plain unnatural)...what is everyone's plans for the coming year? Big trips away, three-dayers, kamikaze weekends, local stops? Personally I'm hoping for.... -2 or 3 kamikaze weekends to Indiana -many days wasting time and chipping paint on baits on the fox chain. -AML on Eagle in July and October -possibly a couple weekends on St Clair -get my @ss kicked in S.Wi a couple of days -sell MuskieFIRST state secrets to fund a tarpon trip or two... YOU?

Posts: 171 | Ohio as early as possible. St. Clair - shortly after opener and several times thereafter.....into December, if conditions allow. Rainy Lake - not targeting muskies, but it's possible. MN - Fall sucker bite. If health allows and timing works, Cave Run in March with Lance.

Posts: 815 Location: Waukee, IA | Going back to Miles Bay on LOTW July 8-15. I'm going to use ONLY home made lures and catch my first 50 on one of them. I'm also going Steelhead fishing in western Michigan in March. They may not be toothy, but they make a muskie twice their size seem like a powder puff

Posts: 112 Location: Illinois | Week in Hayward. A few long weekends in Hayward and Minocqua area and hopefully a fall trip either to Minnesota or Green Bay. And I'll waste a few weekend days in Illinois

Posts: 325 Location: Otsego, MN | My wife and I are expecting our first kid in February so my fishing time HOPEFULLY will not diminish. I have a 4-5 day trip to Vermilion planned. Want more Mille Lacs trips and not just November, maybe get out there in summer. A handful of day trips closer to home (metro waters). A few weekends in West Central MN. Would love to add to that list but I also do some walleye trips and with the new kid my time is a wild card, may not be MINE anymore... On a good note, at least my wife agreed when we got married that the boat stays

If the summer starts out like last summer went, maybe you can sneak in and swap your Opti for his engine and it won't even be noticed...

Posts: 243 Location: South Central Wisconsin | I don't really have big plans for this next season yet. I went without a boat for a couple years so, just being on the water, happily divorced, will be good enough for me. I'm sick of casting pounders in the bathtub...

I went smaller for my riverboat. Grumman sportboat with a 7hp subaru longtail. Thing was awesome for walleye fishing and deer hunting this fall.

Posts: 22 | No real "destinations" planned other than spring post-spawn walleyes on Green Bay. This year I plan to force myself to fish with something other than blades. I have no confidence in rubber or cranks so my plan is to focus on new areas of my home water with baits of have little to no confidence in. Other than that, i hope to explore a bunch of less pressured smaller lakes. Sometimes the 4500 acre flowage is a lot to chew on. Edited by scsep178 1/17/2017 2:58 PM

Posts: 386 | I want to try getting down to Iowa before the MN season opens at least once. I haven't run that past the boss yet so I'll see how that goes. I live relatively close to Tonka but have never put in serious time there. I'm going to start learning it starting on the NW corner, hopefully my patience for jet skis lasts long enough to find some fish. And the trip I'm really excited about is Lake Bemidji. A friend of mine moved up there a year or two ago and will be getting a boss of his own in July. I managed to convince the boss that we should get our hotel for 2 or 3 nights and the boat can come with! There has been some ridiculous fish coming out of Bemidji, particularly the past two years so I'm hoping to at least catch a glimpse of one of those beauties.
