Posts: 246 Location: Grand Marais, MN | Saw a post from Uncut Angling from a little while back where he mentions testing a new prototype "big fish baitcaster" while catching big channel cats up in Manitoba. Said its supposed to come out 2017, anyone know anything about it? couldn't find anything else

Posts: 132 | You are probably right. The 401D and Beast 61 are great reels, but a lefty Tranx type reel would be a game-changer.

Posts: 256 | Is the european market really that small that a lefty reel is considered a bad investement for shimano?

Posts: 1100 | Its the bass and heavy salt water fishing that drives the market.

This reel will be mostly design for Bass Swim Baits But should be also used in light saltwater and Musky !!

Posts: 60 | Yes, the 300E and 300EJ are going to be replaced. There will be 2 sizes in 2 different gear ratios and will be available in RH and LH.

Posts: 132 | Sweet. Will make a nice glider and small blade reel. Shimano is still missing a 400 size low-profile reel to compete w/ the Beast and Lexa.

Posts: 135 | Well, last spring they released the Curado 70 as essentially a downsized and lighter weight 200i with their SVS braking, X-ship, Stable Spool, Hagane frame, etc. It is available in two speeds in both left and right retrieve. Discontinuing the 300e/300ej which have lagged other refreshed models in the Curado series, in favor of a smaller-sized Tranx seems plausible, and I'd buy a couple in a heartbeat to upgrade my Curado 300ej and replace my Daiwa Lexa. Would be especially great if they come in a lefty version! Two sizes is intriguing as well...300 and 400? (Current Tranx is 500.)

Posts: 386 | Here's hoping they increase the drag resistance. Im a tight drag, free spool after the hook set kind of angler, just not confident in the hook sets when using my Curado, love it otherwise.

I'd of course like to see something bigger than a 300 (love the 300dsv, but cant do everything with it). Who am I kidding, though. I don't need/cant afford any new reels.
