Posts: 1901 Location: MN | We are barely seeing 70° water here in northern Minnesota, I have to believe they are a bit behind up there. If that is the case I would look more at the Stuff closer to the spawning bays and less out toward the reefs. Will be up for our first trip one week later

Posts: 103 | Just got back from a week up there. Between crazy weather and post spawn fish it was a little tough. The ones caught were sub 40" and we only saw one over. Your timing might be about right.

Posts: 239 Location: Elroy, Wisconsin | Well you sure did a lot be4tter than I did. When I saw 6 footers coming into Manitou Island Sunday morning. I packed up. Never left early when I was 40, but now at 72 it seems easier to fish another day. Mudpuppy

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | Water was a little high, temps 69 - 73 (morning to afternoon and depending on the day). Water was really dirty/cloudy, and all the runoff from Wednesday's rain probably won't help. But fishing has been good.

Posts: 443 Location: Duluth, MN | Just got back on monday. Was only there for 2 days. We got 3 and saw another half dozen. Biggest was a 42. Topwater and bucktails had all the action. Water is still very dirty...hard to see follows so don't give up until your sure. Although Obabikon was clean if you go half way back or better. Water temp was 72ish....but thats going to skyrocket in the next couple days.

Posts: 171 | Came up late Sat. Sunday was my best day ever, 33, 39, 43, and one a little over 48. Brother got a small one. Fish active at almost every spot. Then storm with big north wind hit late with alot of rain. Then Monday the heat and calm came. Clear blue skys since. No fish seen Monday. No muskies Tuesday, a couple northern, one 39. Today is brutal. So bad we EVEN tried trolling. Then went swimming for awhile. We are toying with leaving tomorrow. Water temps r 92 in some spots, so probably good thing we ain't catchin, probably would b killin. Curious to know if someone out there with more skill had much luck since Sunday?

Posts: 103 | We did well Sunday but struggled Monday Tuesday also. Sounds like its good we didn't fish Wednesday. Found fish in the weeds and on rocks. Didn't try any sand spots. Max water temp we saw was 72 but i am sure it is much higher now. Back up next Wednesday

Posts: 171 | Glaucus_ - 7/21/2016 8:27 AM 92 ??? Hard to believe.....I think so too. Was just cruising near opening to Stevens and saw that on my dash mount, stopped the boat and told my brother, look at this water temp!!. Was consistently over 80 during midday.

Posts: 512 | Got here sunday afternoon and put in monday. saying its tough is an understatement . ive moved 2 fish so far with nothing to show.. even the walleye bite is off! Big storm came through last night, cooled off the temps, but blowing pretty good today.. water temps were around 78-80 yesterday before the storm, 72-75 today.. oh well, its still better than working!

Posts: 40 | Just got back Saturday, things where slow, most fish where very lazy, fish that did hit crushed it 3 cranks in after cast, almost all follows where low and slow. Water temps mid 80's a couple days, clear blue sky's no clouds. Seen fish every day around 10 or so, but most where just out for a Sunday stroll.

Posts: 1901 Location: MN | About to complete our 11th trip in the last few years, second this year. Here are some thoughts and observations. Your mileage may vary. • Muskies are still muskies, even on LOTW. • the sunset/dusk/first dark bite should be better than it is • Windows rule, even up here. Amazing that you can fish a bunch of spots in the morning and not see a fish. That afternoon for an hour or two you'll see 6 fish on one reef and 3 on the next spot. And you don't know when these windows are. • I agree with Ty Sennett, Solunar tables don't mean a thing up here • just like back home weather trumps all. Pray for prefrontal or cloudy rainy conditions for as many days as possible. Hi skies and hi pressure make for difficult fishing. Numbers are down all over, but big fish are being caught. • big wind sucks on big water. And this can be big water • they just don't like to play in the 8 like they used to • nice green cabbage in some spots where there wasn't any or much last year. Unfortunately not many fish in them • topwater is still a great way to catch muskies • Sab is still dirty (choc milk) but getting better in some spots • the bloom has started • water temps Sat - Tue were generally 72-74, tho it got to 78-79 in some calm spots this afternoon, but cooled to 76 right away by 8 pm • LOTW is no longer a secret ?? Lots of boats all over • I couldn't come here in July/Aug just to walleye fish. Just catching 3 for lunch every day is hard enough and cuts into muskie time. It's like trying to shoot a doe with your bow during late season when you passed a bunch earlier. Now when you want one they're hard to come by. But when in Rome... • we had 14 fish in 3 days last trip to 51", and 4 fish in 4 days this go 'round. Pretty poor in my opinion, though we did get a 49.5 • it's still the most affordable great place to muskie fish that I am aware of. I just need to be able to come more often so I can fish more when it's good, not just when I can • Todd and his family at Tamarack are awesome • DP is still the man on LOTW. I appreciate his reports and encouragement. One more trip to Sab and one at the Angle. Edited by Propster 7/27/2016 12:31 AM

Location: Contrarian Island | so muskies are muskies and the moon effects them everywhere else but lotw ? guess I totally disagree with your statement the moon doesn't matter... weather trumps moon but the moon effects muskies on lotw just like every other body of water....

Yea, I've been going to LOTW for 10 years, and the moon has played a major role in our success.

Posts: 219 | Ditto on the moon!! been going to LOTW for 24 years and the moon under foot and over head to me is more important then rise or set during a full moon or new moon period. I can go on but the moon does play a part in the action. Darren

Posts: 512 | Totally agree with you propster. ive been here since the 17th, heading home on the 30th, and ive seen about what you have. definitely more boats up here this year than in the past, and the fishing is goofy. ive gotten 3 with the biggest a 44 but ive only seen 5 or 6 others? slow slow slow... granted now i dont fish 10-12 hours a day like i used to when younger (& dumber) but have been going in the morning and evening, so i may be missing those windows prop is referring too.. will get out in the afternoons a couple times before i go to see what ive been missing!
