Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Minnesota muskies need your help. Once again under attack from the same group of "people". Fill out the survey, but read questions carefully. They are purposely written to solicit the answers they are looking for. Have as many people take it as you can get. http://surveymonkey.com/r/WP6SQQR

Posts: 1000 | Just a thought, but on their site they request stories. We're on the defense here, and being united is a good start, but when do we reverse the conversation and start telling stories about getting kids off the couch and into the boat? Of getting grandpa the biggest fish of his lifetime? and stories around the hunt for the fish of 10,000 casts? Right now the only stories being told are from anti-musky groups. We need to change that and paint the musky as the fish of a lifetime and that we're pushing to give everybody that life changing opportunity.

Location: MN | I did the survey. If this group doesn't get the survey results they are looking for my guess is the DNR and muskie advocates will never see the results. If this group is successful in getting muskie stocking stopped on Pelican and other OTC lakes I hope the DNR stops stocking walleyes in those lakes. After all walleyes are an 'invasive species' on several of those waters. That is if you consider muskies an invasive.

If I was the DNR, I wouldn't give any credence to a survey like this. Besides the obviously biased questions which make it less than scientific, I've taken it twice! What's to keep anyone from skewing the results to suit themselves? Even if SurveyMonkey reports IP addresses with the responses, I've got access to dozens of computers I could use.

Posts: 785 | Those were some loaded questions if you were coming into that survey from a neutral position. I agree that if enough muskie supporters take the survey the results will never surface. I like how the one question claims the opposition of the Knapp survey provides evidence of tough fishing and seeing muskies under docks as proof against the long term scientific study.... ok grandpa.

Posts: 3 | Should we be responding to the survey? Or should we be getting the word out that this is a severely slanted survey put out by the very group opposed to muskie stocking? The group gathering the data will probably do whatever they want with the results, as long as it aligns with their views.

Posts: 3147 | Does anybody know if you can go to this service when it's done and see their results before whoever commissioned it puts their spin on it. FYI,,,when I was Secretary for MMA at its beginning. We put together a muskie angler survey that we had people do at muskie expo about size limits, seasons, live bait, everything,,,however for the dnr to accept ANY results we got first we had to submit a copy of the survey to the dnr headquarters so they could review it and make sure no questions were "leading" and if they thought so they had to be rewritten or removed. I wonder if this one was reviewed.

Location: MN | Good point BigMuskieGuy. Someone should save a copy of the intro letter and all the questions in the survey in case they try to use this survey for their purpose. I tried to do it at work and was going to save it in a Word doc but was not able to get in to the survey since I had already done it.

The point many are missing is he DNR doesn't care about this survey, nor will they likely ever see the results. They (we) are aware of it, but don't expect to see the results. This was put together for the sole purpose of using the results to give to whichever legislator they've bought and paid for. Thus, if we bolster the pro musky results it will screw up their intentions/hopes. So, take the survey but don't forget to write several legislators, Tom Landwere, and anyone else you can think of.

I wonder if this one was reviewed. If I had to hazard a guess, this survey was designed to "respond" to the public input that the DNR received and put out showing a majority of the public supporting the musky program. Of course, this group believes that data to be dishonest.

So... What exactly is this lead yahoo's true agenda? He is in his mid 60's. apparently wealthy. Is it really about muskies eating walleyes? NO!.. Is it really about people boating and fishing on "his" lake? NO! or seeing a big fish under his dock? NO! what is it that drives this guy to travel around, spread false statements, lies, hire lawyers, etc...??? Why is he so butt hurt that he will spend all his associations money fighting this stupid cause???? Has to be something beyond what a single species is perceived doing to the lake that's behind his house.

Has to be something beyond what a single species is perceived doing to the lake that's behind his house. It's about people using the lake that landowners believe is "theirs". When you talk to most lakeshore property owners it's never "the lake I live on" it's "my lake". That's truly what this boils down to.
