I was looking at the post over in the outings section and am starting to wonder about this trip. Maybe we should take a count and see who all are still planning on going on this trip. I saw that Mr/Mrs Hintz might have to cancel, EsoxManiac cancelled and I think there were one or two others. With the water problems, SARS and schedule changes, who's all planning on going?

Damn the SARS, full speed ahead! I would not want to be the one to tell Mauser that his trip-of-a-lifetime has been cancelled. We can buy enough Canadian beer to raise the lake level a bit. We're in, m

Scott- I cancelled because of my day job. I looked at the low water level as a plus, i.e., Muskies will be hanging in some new spots. + mid lake spots, spines, etc. much easier to find. I would have had to throttle back ESOX Maniac, but it would have been a great trip- If my boss hadn't given me a ultimatum, I'd still be going.  As for Mark- maybe good thing, i.e., he won't be giving all those hogs a sore mouth before you get a chance at them & he won't need ambulance service . But then again Ranger is a pretty good field surgeon, well actually he's good with a net. The surgeon part is pure speculation based on field observations of his wilderness survival skills..

Hey Cornbread- stick a +50  for me. Would be awesome if your first would break 50"

Fear not peeps! Begin NOW to prepare mentally for the upcoming festivities; watch Barney, Dora the Explorer, and Samurai Jack videos...these will help you maintain focus, and are best watched over a Pop Tart, a steaming bowl of grits/hot sauce, and a handful of Chocks vitamins. Pop in a Richard Simmons video and get physically motivated, then slip out into the back yard and roll in the morning dew! W/in days, you will look, feel, and act different; your confidence level will soar, and peeps will soon be wanting to know your secret. BUT...don't tell them, sell them!!! By charging them a small fee for sharing your new found way of life, you not only benefit physically, you can also make enough $$$ to finance your trip. The new you will be glad you did...

***Note that I have asked NOTHING for this career enhancing way of life; consider this my personal contribution for the trip...

***Another note: in reality, I must admit I despise Barney...the pudgy little purple freak ruled our home for a number of years, and was more of a man than I could ever hope to be!:( The assorted Sponges would gather 'round the tube each morning glued to the screen, while I sat on the couch grinding me teeth and swearing vengeance...I'm better now, yet the taste of his dominance still trickles bitterly down me throat on occasion. Try to remember this as you start your routine; this is no time to lose focus!

We're still in. I ain't missing this trip for nothing! Will probably have to rent a lodge boat, but they have nice boats.

Ranger, get a hold of LandyR. He may be interested, and has a great boat. Been there, done that with him. He's a great boat partner.

I'll be there for sure. I think this will be a sweet outing. Looking forward to hanging out with some more MF dudes.

I'll be JohnMD's boat.

Al, I'll put one in the boat and name it after you! Thanks. Mauser and I are setting a goal of one fish each per day. I think we can do that.
Sponge, we've got room in the SUV for the drive up and back, just say the word. m

Daggone dude! Are you meeting at your house? I doubt I can pull it off, BUT...after 15 years, "she" has yet to see me best acting...perhaps I'll go set the "stage"...:O

**I travel light; hot sauce and pepper spray, the spray for those who might try to make off w/ me stash of hot sauce...I sleep w/ one eye open, the other I'm not sure...Spongette is in a meeting now, so I'll have to hear her scream NO later...

Not that I was worried about SARS or anything, I'm still in. Just wondering what the status of the masses was. Sounds like the greater majority is still in. That's great news, I was getting a little worried there.

Bring on the musky slime.

Jason and Connie Smith are excited to go and will be there staying on the island with the group. Steve Worrall is staying at Red Wing lodge about 6 miles away from last I heard, maybe we snore too much...I dont know..LOL.. I know he will be there to comunicate and help everyone at 4am and 9pm. He will even clean your pike.

Shep and me are still organizing the room assingments and making sure everyone has plenty of activities, including the wifes. I also have a gift for everyone attenting dontated by ANON.

Things you guys should be doing is making sure you get maps and spend time talking with others that have been there. Helpfull hints on directions and water hazzards are good to note before you get there.

It is a MF outing...but it will be more like a family wilderness outing on an island. I will be fishing SMB, Walleyes and Northern Pike too...have to eat!

More updates from me and shep will follow in the month before, until then keep the hooks sharp and be ready to enjoy a fun filled week on the water with friends sharing stories and enjoying campfires.

Mikie, got your e-mail, little dude got on here and was playing and deleted everything! Not sure if I can go or not; brother REALLY wants to go, but I don't know how many cancellations there are, any idea? If by some miracle, I/we'd fly as far north as possible and have to hitch some wheels up to the place...time will tell...

OK, here's the deal on openings. Sabaskong Bay Lodge can accomodate up to 42+ people. Right now, we have 31? MFer's signed up to stay at the Lodge. That is including Steve and Sue. (Steve, when we talked at the MN Expo in Blaine, I vaguely remember you said Sue was joining in?) Either way, there is plenty of room for you and Sue, and Sponge and Bro!

Some of the cabins are for American planners, so if we use any of them, we'll just have to arrange for the occupants to use some of the other cabins for meals if they need to cook. Sounds like we have some kinda meal planning going, so that may not be a big issue.

I will update the list of attendees. Right now, out is Esox Maniac and Ranger's Bro. Ranger, get in touch with Buddy Solberg, or talk to LandyR. I still need to confirm if Musky Fever and his wife are still in. I haven't heard much from him lately.

I want to stress that we all need to stay at Sabaskong Lodge. We're gonna have a blast, catch some fish, make some new friends, renew some old acquaintences, share some info, help each other, and eat, drink, party, and generally have a good time.

My goal for the week, providing he doesn't score before, or with the Extreme One or me in July, is to bust mikie's cherry! Other than that, I'm gonna get that pig that broke my Reef Hawg!

Sue is checking with her new job to see if she can get the time off, she wants to go for sure. I will let you know as soon as we have confirmation one way or the other. Either way, I am in. I was planning on the Island anyway, but was told at one point it was full. Since it isn't, all is well!

Steve,

Wouldn't be the same without you and your bride, if she can make it, with us on the Island! Now we need to hear from Ralph! Sponge! You gonna make it!? We have room for you, and your Bro!

Steve, did you see my pre-fishing post on WF? You up for the Friday before?

Spongette is going to check w/ her company tomorrow for flight prices; need to know the fartherest north we can fly, and need confirmation that we can get the rest of the way to the island. We would probably have to rely on borrowing at least a rod, we could bring reels + clothes. Still pretty foggy as far as us coming, but should something gel, we'll have an idea as to what to plan!

Sponger,

If you fly into Mineapolis, We can get you the rest of the way easily. I have room in my rig to get you to the Island, and I am sure there are a few others coming up from that direction who might be able to help, also.

- Should one plan to be there on Friday(Minneapolis)
- Can we get back to the airport Sat. evening
***I'll give her the dates of 22-30 and 23-31 and see what kind of deal she can get through their corporate whatever... I'm afraid I wouldn't want to get out of that boat Stever! Daggone nice one...brother has never 'ski fished; will he be able to walleye/pike/smallie fish?

Sponger,

Answer to al, your questions:

Friday night into Minneapolis is fine. Otherwise, early Saturday Morning too. I can have you back in time Saturday, no problem. gear is no problem, neither is fishing 'eyes and pike, maybe even some smallmouth, too. Check air fare into Rhinelander while you are at it, would make things easy if it isn't too much more $.
