| I thought Jim Saric's last book was particularly helpful. Several interesting "big picture" ideas that helped in planning approaches to different types of situations. Jims a good writer and keeps the book entertaining and informative

Location: Okauchee, WI | One I really like is Beneath the Surface by Dr Bruce Carlson. The science contributor to In Fisherman. Observations on the ecosystem of an entire lake, including the skees.
As far as fish in the boat, Muskies on the Shield. Even tho I've never been to the shield.

| Pearson's "Muskies on the Shield" really influenced how I think about muskie fishing
Saric"s "Muskies my Way" covers a large spectrum of tactics and concepts
The newest Musky Hunter release "25 Can't Miss Patterns" has detailed descriptions about 25 strong established patterns from 19 authors. I'm admittedly a bit biased here but am expecting it to be really informative and a great read.

I loved the systematic approach to thinking about structure and the focus on fish location over lure selection. There's a million threads on this site on lures and colors, but not so many people discussing where to find the fish. This book put things into perspective.

Location: Hayward, Wisconsin | fishdawg: Don't be mislead by the title. but "Muskie On The Fly" by Robert S. Tomes can teach you tons. Full color photos and dozens of color illustrations on how muskies relate to structure, weeds and current. Incredible amount of information that will make anyone a better muskie angler, fly angler or not!

Location: Metro | I recently picked up Jim Serics book. I have liked it so far but to be honest he gets a little repetitive in his chapters. I like the book most because I am reinforcing what I have been doing all summer. When you go through a time period in the summer when you aren't catching fish it really makes you wonder if you are doing things the right way. This book really has been bringing it home for me and reassuring myself that I am doing the right thing I just need to have patience and use my time wisely on the water. |

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Just finished Bill Hamblin's book - 120 Days .. It's a great read and should be considered as an addition to your muskie fishing library. I got mine at the Milwaukee Expo on Saturday and had a chance to chat with Bill. The next couple of read's will be slower to "suck the marrow out of the bone"!
I think I'm on my 10th or maybe 20th read of Dick Pearson's book...I've lost track, its how I stay connected to the Shield during winternet - now Bill's 120 Days is in the lineup with Bill Gardner's thrown in as reallity check! Catching is the frosting.........

Location: Ludington, MI | I put Saric and Heiting at the top of this list. It's the one I go back to time and again before each season. I'm halfway through the new "25 Patterns" book and I would say for experienced anglers, it's even better. I loved Pearson and Gelb as well. Hamblin's book is a great story, but not real heavy (or varied) on instruction.

Location: SE Wisconsin | I don't think you can go wrong with reading any of the muskie books out there, they're all great in their own right. Steve Heiting is an influential writer, I really like his work. I need to get a copy of Bill Hamblin's new one, 120 Days, I think that one is going to be a great one.

| i liked Tom Gelb, Tony Rizzo, and Len Hartman's books. Muskie Hunter magazine is good reading for general patterns and tactics. It generally stays with topics oriented to the particular time of the season we are in. Surface Bait Subtleties probably has helped me boat the most fish directly as being that I fish darker waters where top water is generally more effective. |

Yes - its available. LOL........... you just might want the digital version or start searching garage sales, thrift stores, or flea markets or old book stores...its definitely in the serious collector catagory if you want a paper copy..
