| where do you all think the best position for an action camera, like a GoPro, is while fishing? If you had to pick one is it on the head? Chest? On the boat or other? I enjoy the head but there is a bunch of movement obviously and tough to watch sometimes. If you had two cameras then what would you pick? I know it's all personal opinion but I am curious what the majority prefers.

But if you can get a painters pole and run a handle bar mount on it. For me it's really nice because the center console has rod holders and I just bungie cord it in and I get a good overhead view with follows and net jobs. |

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Lots of trial and error to find the best position. The pole is mounted about 8 feet back from where im standing, on the side I'm fishing and the camera sits about the same height as my head. I have it so the pole can hold two cameras and when using it to shoot bow and stern the pole is mounted in the center of the boat shooting over the shoulder of each angler. |

| I prefer the head shot if I only get one. It ensures you almost all the action. I also devised a painters pole to shoot a whole boat shot but will use it for the first time in a few weeks. I will be running the whole boat shot and two head cams for the trip. |

| Thanks for all the replies! I just got a GoPro Hero 3+ silver and am playing around with it. Do you all just record on a loop? If so, when u get something u want to save what do you do? Pull out that card and put in a new one? Thank you all in advance! |

| I do 5 or 20 minute loops. When you want to save the action that just happened then you just hit the record button to stop the recording. The last 5 or 20 minute loop will be saved. You have to be careful not to save things accidentally or they will start to eat up space on your card before the day is close to over. I also bring 8+ batteries for a full day of fishing to ensure that is not an issue. |

| So say you record on 5min loop and it will just keep recording over itself every 5 min until you hit the record button again? Once you hit the record button the second time, that last 5 min is what is saved, correct. Then you just hit record again to start the 5 min loop again and it won't lose the saved footage from before? Do I understand it correctly? |

Wasabi power makes batteries for Gopro cameras.
They have a 2 pack with charger and also an extended pack battery that will come with a charger and camera back doors-make sure to choose the one for your camera.Amazon seems to be the best place for this purchase.
If your mounting camera on pole or base the extended battery would be your best choice. If you are going to wear it on your head than go the other route.

| Thank you! The specs on the Wasabi battery are 3.7v, 1200mah, 4.4wh vs the GoPro battery 3.7v, 1180mah, 3.88wh. Does anyone see a problem with that? |

| Nope, only problem is GoPro charging much more for an inferior battery. I have wasabi batteries for hero 3, hero 3+, and hero 4. All work great! |

It's not water proof so I would stray away.
I second the wasabi and I also have 9 or 10 $3 batterys from China that also work fine.There is plenty of cheap options and I don't have a problem switching batts. Battery backpack is nice to have also.
I own wasabi,smatree,and cheap Chinese ones all work fine. There is a company that ran a pilot on really cool batterys I'll try to find real innovative stuff.

I would Also spend the money asap and get a polarizer lense. I own a few and the cheap ones are just fine. I have a few Polarpro lenses they make a clip on lense so you don't have to mess with unscrewing your housing lense.cheap and easy and they can mean the difference in getting fish on film or not on sunny days.

Location: MN | After talking to Gregg Thomas and Mike Keyes I went with something called Pocket Juice. It's like $15 and it's designed to be a power bank charger for phones and stuff, but I just cut a hole in the housing of my GoPro and run the UBS cord to the camera and stick the other end in this Pocket Juice and you can get easily 8 hours or more of filming without having to change batteries within the camera. I was getting an hour to an hour and a half out of those. I got a longer cord I can just run down to my pocket when I wear it on my head, and a 6' cord for if I mount it on a pole. You can even run it down to your DC accessory outlet and run it off your big battery and don't need the Pocket Juice. |

For the price it's a cheap Easy power bank but there are many better options for a power bank out there for a little more money. I'll pay extra for a better mAh. But for the price you can't go wrong either way. Anything around
4 to 10 thousand mAh Will do anything you want in a 6-8 day fishing. |

Charging/changing batteries is a pain. I bought a housing with a cutout where the USB charging cable plugs in. I hooked this up to my battery via 1 mA cigarette lighter adapter. I can fish as long as I want and not change any batteries. The housing is not waterproof but this is only a problem if it starts raining. If that happens I change the housing start changing batteries. |
