Posts: 251 | I am curious as to what brands of bucktails people prefer. You can answer the poll and reply with the model, color, blade size, modifications, ect. about your go to bucktail. Feel free to add in your own options.

Posts: 251 | My current Favorite is the Dadson 9mm Bullet. I was hooked after trying one a guide showed me last year fishing on LOTW. I think it is a good compromise on size and speed. Most importantly it is built well and casts great, even into the wind. The biggest down side is it is very hard to get your hands on them, always sold out everywhere.... I mean they are crap so don't try to buy them. ![]()

Posts: 241 | BucherTail 700. The gold standard in bucktails. Nice size hook, hook can be replaced if you have to cut it, straight shaft, blade spins easily. What could be better. Backdraft

I had a JR Cowgirl custom made at one of the shows this year, it is a single blade. To my knowledge, they only sell the JR as a double version with two blades.. Somehow I completely forgot about it, but am now dying to get out and throw it.

I would also add T-n-T tri-glides. My #2 producing bucktails. At least 5 over 50 and responsible for a second place in the George Wahl. 6.5s are my favorite. The 9.5 and 12.5 are great for slow rollin!

Posts: 345 Location: Poynette WI. | I throw ones I build probably 90% of the time. For multiple reasons, a couple are they are built the way I like them for particular lakes and rivers, it's very rewarding to catch a fish on something you made yourself, the price is right and it's usually different than a mass produced lure. I also like using a few others that are made up of materials I don't have on hand.

Last year I caught 12 muskies including a 50", a 48" & several low to mid 40's on double showgirls. There's one that the skirt is almost gone & the blades bent up a little. I usually make my own but I bought the 2 showgirls I have used because they were cheaper than building my own.
If you are having problems getting the blades to start then try bending the clevis inward a little so that the are a perfect "U" shaped.

Thanks. Do you mean bend the bottom of the "U" toward the shaft?

Posts: 1100 | He means, from the manufacturer the clevis is sort of shaped like this ) if you bend the arms towards each other so they are parallel like the arms in a "U" then they are more perpendicular to the shank, and they spin more freely ![]()

Posts: 293 | I selected Mayhem just because of one particular bait that I've caught fifty or more fish on.... I make most of my own bucktails though, and have had good luck with them....That being said I use all the same components as in DCG's.

Posts: 2753 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Why does this question keep coming up? My favorite is the new "Giant Quadruple 20 Beaver Tail" from Beaver Slivinski. The quadruple blades are 8"x5" and it requires a minimum of a 150HP Evenrude Etec HO with Raker stainless steel prop & 300 lb fluoro with a Giant Tuna Rod and a Shimano Taigra to pull it, and you had better be setting in ToddM's fighting chair when she hits! http://shimano.fishing-store.us/shimano-conventional-reels.html I thinks someone already said it -> try doing a fX&^@4 search! Is it still "Winternet 2015"????? I can't wait for the 2015 Canadian opener! Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Have fun! Al

I agree. I know a couple of guys that sold all of their Dadsons for more than they paid & are laughing at the fools that are over paying for them.

I'm sure Jonny would love to sell them at 75 bucks. I agree I think these Bucktail prices in general have gotten out of hand. I wanted a few Jr CowGirls but couldn't get myself to pay the 22 dollars. I made mine for $8.35.

I've got a Gold\Gold that i finally had to retire and got it replaced this year. Best LOTW lure by far the last 3 years for us. Double catch and follow rate than any other lure.
