![]() Posts: 140 Location: Scandia MN | While at the Sport Show last week I finally had an opportunity to try on a number of Costa sunglasses. They actually have some that fit my melon head and seem to have decent lenses. Since there was no water to look through my question is do they really make a difference and are they worth the extra $$ or are you paying for a name and their large advertising budget?

Posts: 349 | You're going to get a lot of opinions here, and my personal opinion is yes they are. I switched from cheapies to Costas a few years ago and there's no doubt I could see the under water world better with the Costas. I also picked up my 580g's "practically" brand new off Ebay for $115 so the sticker shock wasn't so bad.

Posts: 293 | I like mine for the reasons that you stated. Lots of different frame and lens options so it shouldn't be a problem finding something that's right for you. I got mine with glass lenses and was able to shop around and found a great price on Ebay.

Posts: 617 Location: Clintonville, WI | For tbaatz and jwegs, Do you know your fitted hat size? Mine is 7 3/4 - 7 7/8......not monstrous, but almost. I've looked far and wide for good quality glasses that fit with no luck, so I'm not sure even the Corbinas will fit. I've wanted to try high end lenses for years with no luck. There are several low cost outlets for XXL glasses which I won't compromise for. So, until I find something other than H3O, those are what I've got. By the way, I'm generally happy with my H3O Tsunamis and Storm, but even they are a bit snug.

Posts: 293 | ^^^ I wear a 7 3/4 and have plenty of room in the Tuna Alley frames. You can search the Costa site by size.

![]() Posts: 140 Location: Scandia MN | BigMo My hat size is 7 7/8 - I thought I had that info but it turns out I wrote down the lens number and not the frame. After I did I was at Reed's booth and they had many options too. Won't help you much unless your close to one of their stores I guess. Now that I'm committed to owning a pair I will keep you posted as to what I learn.

Posts: 46 | I did several types of glasses back to back to back while in Florida. Costas are worth it, and glass lenses are better (but slightly heavier) then the poly-carbonate lenses. Having said that, I wear wiley x now. I like the side inserts and they are as good as costas for viewing in the water. wileys are also ballistic rated. Save even more money if you have eye coverage in your insurance. I don't need glasses but I get new prescription polarized sunglasses every 2 years with my company plan, usually pay around $100 for costas or equivalent and the doctor can try to give you slightly better then 20/20 vision.

The Corbinas fit great for me.

Posts: 2026 | Yes! Go Glass, green mirror! They are so much nicer than the others! I picked up a follow 3 feet down from at least 30 feet away. I got mine for under $100 shipped. Worth every penny being able to see that follow earlier and be ready for the 8 instead of possibly moving to hastily and spooking it.

Posts: 20255 Location: oswego, il | I love my green mirror fathoms. Best glasses I ever had. I bought mine on eBay. Be wary though, there are fakes being sold on eBay. Pic 5 in the photo contest, his name is Christian, he brought a pair of "costas" that day his dad bought really cheap on eBay. They were not even polarized.

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Short answer: Yes. I sold my Ocean Waves 4 years ago and bought a pair of Jose's(RIP). They have been the most comfortable and clear pair of fishing glasses I've owned to date, even more so than my old Bill Dance glasses from K-Mart. One thing I like is the warranty. I broke a hinge once, sent in, repaired in little time. Then, compromised a bow this winter, and had them back in two weeks. Great service. Purchaed mine(580g) from Ebay.

Location: MN | You will see fish that you won't see with oakleys and even more fish that won't be seen with cheapies so I would say yes. You can get $80-100 off buying online.

Posts: 121 Location: Forest Lake, MN & Bemidji, MN | You only get one set of eyes. Investing in good sunglasses is smart for a few reasons besides seeing more fish. And yes, you will see more fish too! Lifetime warranty and good service.

Posts: 187 Location: West Metro, MN | 100% yes for the reasons other have stated. Great warranty, I broke a pair last year (my fault) and sent them in and talked to the repair shop and they said I could pick out any new pair I wanted with the same level of 580P lenses for $80. I have 2 pairs one with the darker charcol collored lenses for bright days and one with amber lenses for lower light conditions. Worth every penny.

I can't compare Costas with Oakleys because I have never used Costas. But Oakleys are great, and they are very pro military and law enforcement...my kind of company.
