Despite rumors to the contrary, the muskies are going at the Cave.

Muskie Lodge guide Joey White with a fat 46 from today, the biggest of four fish in his boat.

Subject: Recent Cave Run Report?

I am heading to Cave Run this Sunday. Just wondering what is happening down there. I am not looking for any spots or bait tips. Just a simple report from anyone who has fished it in the last week. I will be going with a guide for three days so I know we should catch some fish. However, I am hoping to catch the pre-spawn activity and a chance at some fat females. Hopefully I am not too late. Thank you in advance for any reports.

cave run legend - 3/16/2015 6:26 PM

I posted this morning about the water levels and water conditions.

Thank you; however, that does not answer my question. I was curious about the stage of the spawn... Pre-spawn or already spawning???

should still be prespawn I would think. Ice has only been off the lake for a little over a week and should be pretty cold yet...

Keep the info and pictures coming. Those of us who are NOT "heading to the Cave" right now, we need to live through those of you that ARE there. Make us feel like we're there with you. Good luck to all y'all.

ManitouDan, yes below the dam. And we ended up with one nice fish yesterday and only moved one other in the rain. Didn't hear of much else being caught... Good luck to anyone who is heading out!

Rough trip to Cave Run for us. No fish in the boat. We stayed at the lodge and did not land a fish in four days of fishing (three days with a guide). Two fish were caught by those fishing out of the Musky Lodge (either with guides or fishing by themselves) between Sunday and Wednesday. The biggest of those two fish was only 34 inches. Needless to say, the fishing was terrible. The guides worked hard but the fishing just stunk.

I assume the water levels in Whisky are rising today ? LOL Who is laughing now ? The good officials giveth calls , the good officials taketh calls back .... I was rooting like a madman for Wisc but after that old sour grape sore loser Ryan ran his mouth after the game I'm slightly glad Duke won.
