I just finished Tom Gelbs book. I liked it a lot and learned a ton. Any suggestions on similar books. I'm interested in open water suspended fish.

Posts: 20 | Not in the same realm but I would recommend "liberty and tyranny... a conservative manifesto" by Mark R. Levin The nine most terrifying words in the English language are " I'm from the government and I'm here to help" Ronald Reagan

Posts: 2753 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Dick Pearson's "Muskies on the Shield" is a must read. I wish Doug Johnson and Howie Meyer would each write a muskie fishing book, lots of little secrets locked up in those two brains.... Actually maybe not! LOL.... Have fun! Al

Posts: 25 | I would recommend any musky angler read "The Quest for Girthra" by Richard Minich. Not so much an instructional book (it is fiction) but it hits on topics other books don't address like lore, humor, etc

Posts: 7049 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | World War Z by Max Brooks: the movie only shared the title. Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy: the movie was atrocious and nothing like the book. The World Without Us Alan Weisman: http://www.amazon.com/The-World-Without-Alan-Weisman/dp/0312427905 Unbroken by Laura Hillebrand: more inclusive to the whole life story, and maybe you missed it in theatres. Just a few thoughts...

Posts: 1084 Location: Aurora | Moby Dick - no joke.. Some of the imagery is remarkably described and timeless. There's a part where he's up in the crow's nest and while the boat rocks he imagines walking on the ocean floor wearing wooden stilts as giants swim between them. Top notch!

Not so much an instructional book (it is fiction) but it hits on topics other books don't address like lore, humor, etc X2. If you are in the right mood the strange humor will definitely make you laugh. Best line in the book..."Hillary Clinton is like Stalin with bad legs"
