Posts: 47 | Everyone has their own opinions on brands and models. However, common consensus will tell you that you want some dive and rise jerkbaits like Suick HIs, and gliders like Phantom softtails.

Posts: 1150 Location: Minnesota. | Suick boy here. Before last year I just couldn't wrap my head around why a fish would hit a "bit of broomstick" and as such, didn't use one for over 20 yrs. Last summer I realized what I'd been missing all those years! I had just one last summer. Got around 15 now, the last 4 are handmade. It's going to be a busy year next...!!! I might have "issues"...*g*

Posts: 791 Location: WI | I also like suicks. I have caught a ton of fish on them. But if you would like a suick that runs deeper you have to try a big daddy. They run 4-7 feet deep. Perfect for mid lake humps , steep drops , and deep weeds.

I'll take a Hellhound over a Phantom any day of the week. In 5 years of using Phantoms on LSC I have yet to catch a musky on them. Hell, I haven't even had a follow using them. That's sad considering on LSC the musky hit just about anything put in front of their face.

Posts: 213 Location: Wisconsin | I like suick HI's and Bid Daddy's for dive and rise. The Big's are much easier to work deeper also as previously stated. Hellhounds are a must have and I think a Hardhead sort of fits into this category also...which is a multiple size must have. Hot Tails look nice too.

Posts: 136 | I guess I will be the guy to disagree with the previous posters on the Phantom. IMO, tons of action and an outstanding lure. I'm actually shocked to hear that some are not getting action from this bait. As previous posters stated, Manta's would be on top of my list as well. I have never used teh Manta Hang 10 but I plan to pick up one this year. I picked up Wade's Wobbler this year for the first time so I am pretty excited about that. Previous poster mentioned the Sure Thing...although I would probably not label it a jerkbait, it would make the top of my list for all baits....that is a fantastic lure!

Thanks Andy, I have two of them, the larger guy and the smaller 6" er. I'll try them this season. Man, I have a lot of baits to try out this year. A bit crazy!! Jeremy.

Posts: 906 Location: Canada | <--- doesn't like Phantoms either I don't fish a lot of dive and rise baits but do fish gliders. Manta's are easy to work and get a lot of attention but even with upsized hooks fish either miss them because of the mesmorizing glide or poor hook up ratio. I own a few Hellhounds and like them but again not had a lot of success on hook up ratio with upsized hooks. I recently purchased a Stinger from Fat AZ Musky Products and going to give it a try next season - best if both worlds 3 hooks like a Phantom but works like a Hellhound. For deep gliders I own many and swear by them, Hardtail Modivators by MuskyFix (Ben Modica). Next favourite gliders have to be my Hosebait C Flats.
