Posts: 471 | I'm wondering what you guys prefer and how there durability is. Would mostly be used for twitching cranks, gliders, possibly rubber. My round reels have been well used and I would like to upgrade a few. Suggestions, positives vs. negatives. Only looking at the abu line at this time. Thanks, and happy hunting.

| All the revo toro's are pretty much the same. for the application you describe i would go with a 5:1 or possibly a 6:1 ratio. | |||

Posts: 750 Location: Minneapolis, MN | If you are buying new, you're pretty much just looking at the NACL unless you want the cranking power of the Toro Winch. Within the NACL line you have 2 options of gear ratios, both of which are very popular for various applications.

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | go with the 5 gear ABU NACL best low profile reel today. comes in a 50 or 60 if you use 65 lb braid you can go with the 50, if you use 80 or 100lb braid go with the 60. hope this helps.

Posts: 866 Location: NE Ohio | i had the winch also, gearing was way to slow. sent both in and had them switched to a 5.4:1 ratio. now i'm happy with them. i don't care for the 6:1 ratio but my buddies love it for keeping up with gliding jerkbaits.

Posts: 750 Location: Minneapolis, MN | Trophyseeker50 - 1/28/2015 9:41 PM If you can wait til sept you should. The Toro beast is sweet. And it will have a couple gear options. I thought it's been mentioned multiple times on this forum that the Beast is not a musky reel?

I think the revo beast is the already released bass reel and toro beast is the to-be released new low profile Abu that is a Muskie sized reel

Posts: 471 | Great guys, the information helps. PikeMaster have you had problems with the 6 gear NACL's? I will be ordering the 5 as recommended, as I think this will probably provide better cranking leverage and versatility, in the 60 series. Thanks

Posts: 1285 Location: Walker, MN | F.Y.I., I just picked up 2 more Nacl from Glen's Army/Navy for $221.99 each, I had them the next day! The site doesn't really say it but this does include power handle as well. Free shipping too.

Posts: 1283 | He said TORO Beast not Revo Beast. Cant wait for that reel! Pretty sure Trophyseeker tested a prototype. I love the NACLs and IMO they are the best all around reel out right now. No negatives and I have 5. Saying that I have had LEXA 300 and 400 a Tranx and Curado this year. I like the NACL 60 5.4 the most for an all around reel. Burning 8s and top water I like the 6.4 better

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | If you are young and have strong hands a 6 gear reel will be OK but when get older the 5 gear works best for me, I just have to reel faster but it so much easier with the 5 gears over the 6 gears.

| Picture of the NaCl 50 i just took out of the box and put on a rod for perspective. Kinda wish i would have went with the 60. The 50 was smaller than expected. Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | FYI I would not install the Power Handle in the last hole, it will cause the reel to engauge during the cast. That handle is made for deep water jigging not casting. | ||

Posts: 1100 | IF you really want to use the power handle, in the long setting, hold the thumbar down during cast, its really easy to do with some practice.

| Thats how the reel arrived. Sadly everything is frozen so i have a few months before i can try it out? So do use yours without the power handle? | |||

Posts: 213 Location: Wisconsin | I have both models of the Nacl and I sold both power handles as I don't like them. The double handles are great and pull tens just fine. You shouldn't have an issue with out the power handle and no worries about the handle engaging mid cast.

Posts: 1660 Location: central Wisconsin | I have 80# power pro on a couple of 50 series 6.4's NACls. No issues at all, they will hold 100 yards + backing.

| Ive never used backing so 100 yards should be good. | |||
