Whats the benefit of the thicker lip? More wobble? Strength? I kinda like it

I've found that you don't get any more wobble from a 3/8" lip compared to a 1/4" lip. Sometimes it just looks good though, so I mainly use 3/8" Lexan for extra strength and looks.
