North Twin is quite possible; I know he fishes that area a lot and registered a couple 50"+ fish with Muskies Inc out of there this last season. North Twin produced a 53lbs 12oz. fish in 1953 and a bunch of mid to high 40lbers over the years, so it's a possibility. The same year Gelb got this particular 50lber, a 54lb 10oz fish was caught out of Green Bay. No disrespect to Gelb (I'd be as happy as anyone if they gave him the record), but there are other contenders out there for the legitimate state record, like the two just mentioned.

Hey Guest-

Doesn't Gelb say in the opening post that the fish has a 30" girth. I didn't read every word of every post here, so maybe that was the dead girth and the reported weight was the dead weight?

Where'd I miss the 1.5"?

What are the specifics of the 54lb 10oz fish out of Green Bay? Who was the angler?
