It's tough to find a deal now. Last year they were going for $300 (sometimes under that) on Ebay.

I think Shimano sold to some distributors who immediately hucked them for well below MAP (Minimally Advertised Price). My guess is that Shimano cut all these guys off so we probably won't see much of that ever again.

I think at this point unless you find one on ebay, you pretty much need to wait for someone to run a special. Cabela's I believe just had a deal where if you traded in a reel you got 20% off another reel. Last year I recall Thorne Bros ran a week long special where they sold them for 20% off as well.

$400 brand new from a local shop but I spend a lot of money there so they give me deals.

I get nervous ordering stuff off of ebay that is that expensive and/or something you may need to return or get serviced. If I buy a new reel that is that expensive and there is issues with it out of the box (which happens) I want to bring it in to the retailer for a brand new replacement and not have to send it to Shimano and wait however long.

Gander had them on sale a little while back for $400 and the guy told me they will be running that deal pretty often from here out.

I picked one from Joe's in March for 400.00 on sale with line.
They have deals every once a while 20% off reels.

Bro-in-Law found a guy on Ebay that had 9 of them for $375 shipped. I was a bit skeptical of the deal but I saw the receipt and the reel. Brand New, never opened!...just got it around 3 weeks ago. Just keep an eye out for them and they can be found cheap!
