That's exactly what I did. All cloth sidings are absorbent and the first epoxy coat is rough so you need two coats when dealing with cloth. I also added a bit of transparent orange lacquer paint to the epoxy to darken the siding. Then you add whatever you want for gills, belly, etc. and finish with another epoxy coat with some opalescent gold glitter.
