I have a Jake from the 90's that is a fish catching machine, but after years of abuse it has started to leak. I drilled a hole in it last year and drained it, then glued over all of the seams trying to get this relic back on the water. It worked for a while but has now begun to leak again. Any suggestions on how to get this bait back in the mix for this years fall fishing?

Drill hole to drain the water. I use epoxy to seal them up. Make sure to epoxy around the lip and hook hangers.

What color is it out of curiosity?

If your willing to sacrifice the rattle, you could blow it full of expanding foam (make sure you drill 2 holes)

I foam all my Jake's right out of the box. Don't care about the rattle, I can beat them up, and never worry about them leaking. Drill holes large enough between the hooks to get the foam tip in. Then make sure to drill two small holes on the back too relieve pressure.

I will try to get a pic of the bait on here, but last time they came up as thumbnails instead of having the picture show up. I have repainted the paint and to me it looks like the most realistic crappie pattern every to enter the waters of Minnesota. This past weekend the lure even caught me. I was trying to unhook a hammer handle and it freaked out and a hook ended up buried in between my thumb and index finger.

Anyone ever coat a plastic bait with enviro-tec, trying to get a leaking issue to stop?

I repaired many a leaker with the top seal coat of envirotek epoxy. Just remember it does add weight to the bait. If you foamed the inside and sealed it up that would be a rock knocker!!
