What techniques do you guys use to marble paint lures? LOL this is actually not for painting lures but for another idea I have for a completly different industry. Thanks for any insight.

James - I've tried a couple of techniques with varying degrees of success. The first is to use oil based enamels and float them on the surface of a bucket of water, dip lure and twist as it rises out of the bucket. A small addition of borax as a surfactant tends to help. Multiple colors are possible in one swirl by adding them together on the water's surface. The second thing I've tried is to put down a base coat, take a second color that is thinned with water (if using acryllic paint), spray on, and then blow with just air from your airbrush to give a swirl effect before the paint dries. With this technique multiple colors are put down in successive layers.

Go on YouTube & do a search on "how to paint a marble effect". There’s lots of videos of different things being painted. Most videos show them spray the paint on then immediately use a plastic bag to dab the wet paint or put on a plastic sheet then pull it off.

James, the last ones I did I used the darker paint first the lighter over top and while flat I took the back end of a small paintbrush and made S curves on the bait. The darker color swirled to the top in lines. Not a true marble but for an experiment I was happy with it. I used more paint on it though so was not really practical as a production process but good for a one off. Jake
