| The ceramic insert of the tip of my bass rod is cracked. What are my options?
I'm assuming there isn't a way to replace the insert itself, and the only solution is to get a replacement tip. Is that correct? I'd prefer to do this if possible, depending on the cost.
The rod is a 7'4" M, so I'd rather not put a new tip on as the only tips I've found are huge. Not sure if it hurts the performance of the rod, but it seems like it would. At the very least it looks ugly. Where would I find smaller replacement tips? |

| Replacing a top guide is very simple. Just heat the guide itself with a lighter for a couple seconds and you will be able to slide it off. Then get a new guide (if you can't find one, call the manufacturer and they will usually send one out for a couple bucks). Once you have a new one, just add a bit of glue that is designed for this purpose and heat the glue and slide the new guide on making sure it is straight. |

Location: Yahara River Chain | Many better fishing shops will have different tip tops selections and will gladly put it on. Cost is minimal.
Here in Madison I've had tip tops replaced by Dorn's Midvale and Wilderness Fish and Game in Sauk City.
If you have a dial caliper you can measure the tip after you removed the tip top and you can order the one you like. Use the proper glue as well. |

| Bass Pro Shops carries a whole selection of Fuji replacement tips. They also sell a neat little plastic gauge that you can put the old tip over and measure the size so you don't have to buy a bunch of them. I think they run around $4? |

| I know it's not a difficult process, but the tips are huge. You can match the size to fit the rod, but all the brackets are the same size. It's hard to explain, but hopefully everyone gets what I'm trying to say. |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Fuji makes guides with different size rings as well as different size barrels (to fit the rod) i do believe. |

| I'll have to look harder, but what I found is that the ring size is 8mm for all the Fuji tips. |

| What if the tip top has threads? Is there a way to remove the epoxy and thread so that one can remove the broken tip top? Also, after putting on the new tip top, is it necessary to wrap threads onto the tip top? |
