Posts: 981 | go to a carpet store, ask for cardboard tubing. they always have it and are more than willing to give it away since they just throw it out. I shipped 8'0 rods via fedex and it cost me like 22 bucks I think that was the cheapest.

If you both live in and are shipping within the upper Midwest, you should definitely contact Spee-Dee Delivery. They'll pick even a long rod box up at your door and deliver it for around $12. (You've got to get the rod tube for it though.) http://www.speedeedelivery.com/

Posts: 956 Location: Home of the 2016 World Series Champion Cubs | 2"x10' vinyl down spout $14.50 +/- but if your going to pay that much you may as well add the difference and buy an actual rod tube. Edited by KARLOUTDOORS 2/14/2012 5:40 PM

Posts: 337 Location: Central WI | I've shipped with the cardboard carpet store tubes through fed ex...a little over $20 to ship I think. The carpet store guy was more than willing to help out...he even cut the tube down to size for me.
