Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Last weekend at the DNR Roundtable they had an underwater photographer come and do a slide show over dinner. What he said about muskies is that he really doesn't need to search them out. If he's down there for a while one usually shows up. He things that they're curious about the sounds coming from the scuba equipment. It makes sense when you consider all the noisy stuff that we throw to catch them. |

| They are a curious fish, for sure MT. They are very unpredictable, though. Some will spook, and you just catch a quick glimpse. Others are a bit curious. Then you get the aggressive ones that act threatening. Some are friendly, and some just don't care about us one way or the other. I think trying to see what a particular fish is all about is why I like it so much.
Tough game for the Pack. Got to hand it to the G-men, they come through in the clutch. |

| Yes, visiting them in their world was a real eye opener. I had fished for them for about 8 years prior. The barkeep at the place I stopped after work on Fridays fished them too. The diving was his idea. The waters had just become crystal clear due to the Zebra mussels. John, another regular at the bar was a master diver. We took a course to learn to scuba dive. We then dove with John, and we picked up a lot from him. We had our spots from fishing, but the interaction with the fish had to be learned. A lot was trial and error.
I recommend it to anyone who is healthy enough. As almost everyone who fishes these critters releases them, and fishes for them with heavy equipment, it is the contact we all seek. If a hot follow gives you a rush, imagine getting nose to nose with a four footer in his hood! |

Location: Land of the Musky | I used to take my snorkeling stuff out on Waconia and do this. It was very fun and you really get to see a lot more of what is going on. Nice thing is, snorkeling gear is not to expensive. Never did go rent the scuba stuff in Chanhassen but always wanted to go a little deeper and stay down a little longer. Its a blast though so try out the snorkeling and if you like it go get your PADI card and go for it! Lots of dive classes are about there or if you are in college they usually have one for 2-3 hrs credit. Easy A  |
