Posts: 148 Location: Northwest Wi. | I currently run my Sonar and Cart Plotter as separate units an X-135 and a 3600C iGPS. I like having them separate in case of a unit power or other malfunction you are not left blind out on the water also just seems to work good for me. I would like to get a new 7" or so Chartplotter with out Sonar..Seems hard to find one with out sonar. Any ideas??

You can purchase an HDS-7 without a transducer. Not a ton of cost savings, but you are getting a fully expandable unit. You may change your mind down the road and want to use it for sonar, all you would need is the transducer. I think you will have a hard time finding a 7" screen that isnt a multifuction unit no matter what company you look at.

Posts: 148 Location: Northwest Wi. | Looks like that is the only way I can go..Hard to find just the plotter..Anyone know if the new Lowrance internal antenna's are better than the old ones?? My old unit will loose signal from time to time..Normally at night in the fog near a reef or channel...

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | You are able to get a HDS-7m which is without the sonar capability. I'd suggest getting a unit with sonar and just turning the sonar off. If you ever need it, it's there. Here is the link to the HDS-7m, mapping only. http://www.lowrance.com/Products/Marine/HDS-Gen2/HDS-7m-Gen2/ The new internal antenna's are solid, never heard of an issue with them. Only major issue with an internal was when Lowrance first introduced the internal antenna units back when they released the LMS series.
