Subject: Which Legend Tournament rod for trolling

Hi I would like to know which St croix legend tournament muskie rod would be best suited for trolling big baits at higher speed? I was thinking the 7'9 lipstick but would like to know of another model could handle it better.

Please let me know.

Is there a reason you want to troll with an LT? They are expensive, and not even really ideal for trolling. There are options that are both better suited AND much much cheaper.

I know what you're saying, but was hoping to find something (as I would get a LT for casting big baits) so was hoping I could troll fast with a heavier one wanted to see who has experience with doing this.

TMU79HMF is easily the best choice for trolling, the 86XHF can troll boards ok because the board absorbs the shock and keeps the lure tracking straight. 86XHF is also the best choice for casting big baits.

why not just get a cheap trolling rod for 30 bucks...the LT is overkill price wise for the abuse its going to take trolling big baits...get a big water ugly stick or something or a shimano TDR H action those are both 40 and under. no need spending 350 on something youre going to drag with the tip in the water at 5.0 + mph....

OK, I get it. Yeah, for straight lining you need something with some flex and preferably a slower action. But I agree with the post above... I run Heavy TDR's w/ Daiwa Accudepth 47c's. That combo comes in right around $110... probably cheaper if you buy online. This way you get the exact LT that you want, plus save some considerable wear and tear on it.

Thanks all. I will look into an actual trolling rod for this type of trolling.

I use the 8' HVY trolling rods for lots more than trolling. I rip big minnow lures with them and I use it for casting any big-lipped crank baits. If you want a LT, I'd go with a Top-n-Tail for a multi-purpose rod.
