Location: Richfield, MN | I got a sweet heart of a deal on a gold Trinidad 16N. It is used but there is not a knick on the reel at all.
But now being new to a non level wind reel I would like to get some input from those that are current or past owners of this reel in regards to the ins and outs of using the reel.
What line are you finding out that works the best on it. It did come with line but the original owner was not sold on it so I pout that line on my Curado for bass fishing.
Is there any thing speical I need to know that would help me prevent backlashes.
How about setting up each lure. Is there something special that you do to set up each lure you use.
Besides big blades are there any other lure types that using this reel would make life easier!!!
I did do a search on here and did learn some things but could use more tips.
So please give me any suggestions you can to help make my new toy easier to use and enjoy it even more!!!!
I will be using this reel for big blades for sure and anything else that you suggest using it for.

Location: Kodiak, AK | Just don't fill it all the way up, and it'll spool itself nicely or at least nicely enough to be orderly and cast well. It won't spool as level as a levelwind will, but if you don't fill it up, there's room for it to tend to one side or the other. No biggie.
I would advise carrying some kind of pick or scribe or something to work on a backlash. I mean...I don't actually ever have backlases myself....but if I did, it's a narrow spool to get your fingers down into to pick it out. I dunno...I have a friend who gets backlashes, and he told me. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | 1- use a thick line 100lb test and it must be tight on the spool. After a day of fishing I will let all the line out in the water when I'm running at speed back to the dock and rewind the line tight back on the spool.
2- Use a rod that has a little flex in the tip.
3- add weight to your DCG10-13
4- Fill spool only 75% full
5- easy casts, do not try to bomb it.
6- cast with the wind
7- set the cast control so spool will not spin freely
8- Grease the spool bearings

I've never had a fish refuse me on the 8, so I wouldn't know what's that's like personally...just like backlashes. |

| Spool the reel 100 % full. you'll get another few inches per crank.. Go fish for 1-2 days, and you'll be a pro. I never get back lashes on my non-level reels.. |

Jason you are a funny man. If I had it my way I would be retired and fishing everyday. But due to body malfunctions I am limited right now to sepnding my time on here looking at pics of everyone else having fun!!!
OH the other problems that prevents me, and numerous others as well, from fishing more than they can is wife and kids!!!!!!
Jason some day you will find out what this is all about and then you can relate to myself and others on here why we cannot get out everyday.
Actually you might be married!!! Nahhh you are able to go to IA and fish so that tells me you are a freeman. If so DO NOT EVER screw up your freedom by getting married!!!!! LOL
How the season going for you Jason. I know this much yours is a heck of alot better than mine as you have been fishing!!!
