Posts: 2427 Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | While fishing this weekend, about 6 hours into the day, a message popped up on my screen that said "GPS Module Not Responding" and obviously lost my gps position....about an hour later, it came back on, position aquired...and it worked the rest of the day. The next morning, the unit worked for again for about 2 hours, then the same message came back on....this time, I didn't get any gps back the rest of the day. I turned the unit off and on several times....left it off for 30 minutes at times...nothing.....unplugged the connections in the back...nothing...today when I got home, pulled the boat into the driveway, I turned on the unit...and boom..."Position Aquired"..... Since I am about as dumb as they come when dealing with wires, fuses, connections, etc...I figured I would ask first before I start messing with anything....can any of you "Lowrance experts" help me out on this one???? Thank you for any and all info you can give me!!!! Edited by MikeHulbert 11/8/2010 4:02 PM

They might work with you on it and offer you a reduced price on a new LGC-4000 if your puck is a newer one.

i'd rewire the power cord to your puck first thing, easy to do and more than likely it's a wiring issue with the puck.

Posts: 69 | I had to same issue this summer with my X37, and it was the puck (Upgraded to the new 4000), but it also took out the port to one of my GPS units when it went out. I have two X37's in my boat, and verified everything with the Lowrance tech over the phone, and luckily it only wrecked one unit. They do not replace the ports, you have to send the unit in, and they will replace it if it's under warranty, or if not sell you a new one for half price, that being over $600 for me, cuz my unit was a few days over a year old. I couldn't believe it when he told me that was my only option, so I sucked up having my bow mount not have gps all summer....Hopefully it is just your puck, and it didn't take out the GPS port on your sonar as well.

Posts: 432 Location: mpls | Yep, It's your puck. Had the same issue a couple of years ago. Lowrance replaced my puck. The old one was a 4000, so is the new one. Joe Trueglide.com

Posts: 218 | I had the same issues with 3 different Lowrance GPS units and 3 different pucks this summer. It turned out to be a low starting battery. Even though the battery always started the big motor (Yamaha 225 hp), it was not keeping the puck up to power. When I replaced the battery my problems were gone.

Mike, I'm not sure if they have any left or if there is one near you, but I bought a new 3000 puck for $144 from Gander in August. Might be worth a look rather than buying a used one. -Chris
